Two hundred and fifty years after the Godspeed has left the earth, the hidden cooling chamber discovered the sixteen year old Elder, which is intended for the next leader of the small colony on the ship, in the belly of the ship. When he pulls Amy glass containers from the shelf, he is of her sight transfixed: with her white skin and her bright red hair she is completely different from the rest of living on board people who have all the brown skin and black hair. Without knowing the consequences, he solves Amy Frost Rigid 'so undtritt a series of shocking events going on at the end of the cruel certainty is: Everything he has previously held to be true, is a lie.
My Opinion:
The best thing about 'Across The Universe' is certainly the first chapter 'we are experiencing from Amy's perspective on how their parents put them in the last minute before before choosing who will put their whole life upside down: they can freeze together with them to take up the three hundred-year journey to an unknown world, or is it back to the earth, with her friends and her love for Jason?
Amy chooses her family 'and can freeze in a painful procedure into a steel coffin. The last moments of her earthly life, the thoughts that you shoot through your head, feel her body freezes' all combining to become one of the most gripping Spawn long in YA.
Unfortunately, the voltage then rapidly flips while we accompany Elder by the ship and get to know his life of strict arrangements and unanswered questions. Revis strained the patience of their readers here a little too much, slowly it goes ahead with the plot and only with Amy's awakening comes gradually up speed again. However, the voltage from the sparkling start of the book will flicker again until at the end.
Positives: Revis' inventiveness is impressive that almost kriminalistisch scale action is excellent and also gives a right to the end always with new puzzles. In addition, the plot is full of dramatic twists; Elder and Amy see it soon in a race against time as they try to find out who has it in for the frozen passengers of Godspeed and what secret Eldest, the leader of the ship, such as apple of his eye guards. The clear language, the varied changes of perspective (Amy / Elder), the many puzzles and sent down tracks can be read very good book.
Negatives: Most exciting is the book at the beginning and at the end of 'in between, it depends somewhat. In addition, I would have a little more depth to the characters and as a result it hoped a more convincing love story, even if the so far rather played a secondary role. In the next band I would also like to learn more about the design of the ship and function as the individual levels.
Conclusion: Entertaining science fiction story with amazing ideas and good criminal sub-plot. By fluctuating voltage and a slightly blurred drawing of the characters I draw from a coffee cup.
