Robbie could not better describe his new sound as with the saying "The old Robbie, The New Robbie and the Robbie neither of us has met", I have therefore chosen as a title for this review. In "Bodies" one hand we have a return to the "old", typical Robbie Williams in the form of a strong-voiced, accompanied by violins and underlaid refrains from nothing seems to come apparently, boasting cynical lines of text, as one of Robbie's earlier works is accustomed. Who now thinks, however, Robbie had just produced a song that could just as well on one of his previous boards (eg Escapology) fit the style, however, is on the wrong track. While this idea is obvious, after all Robbie has a lot to do with his fans after the rather mixed and musically unusual album "Rudebox" of reparation, but Robbie's always good for a surprise: In this new song some electric elements contained as they were also found on "Rudebox", also the individual verses are a kind of mixture between rap / chanting and "real" vocals - some another parallel songs included on "Rudebox". Mr. Williams just do not want to hide the fact that his music over the past 5 years (that is the era for "Intensive Care") has developed electro-pop direction - a train, which I support entirely and simply shows once again that he, despite his enormous success, none of the pop artists is that publish exclusively mainstream suitable plants. But already at the first hearing will be distinct differences and improvements to the electric songs on "Rudebox" clear: Loveless, inappropriate lyrics like "Shake your Rudebox, why you so nasty?" were replaced by intelligent chosen, critical and insightful lyrics. Exaggerated bass and annoying synth Gedüdel were replaced by a Fre mixture of "real" instruments and modest use of electro bass and -samples. Rap unmotivated in the individual stanzas became rhythmic chant like "Rock DJ". Overall, one can thus speak at "Bodies" by a song that continues Robbie's new music style consistently, but a gigantic development is compared to "Rudebox", where the electro-pop sound is not nearly as refined and elaborated sounded like "Bodies ". Even Robbie's experiment comes in this song is not too short, instrumental pieces with a sort of Gregorian chant are in two places of the song highlighted that form a fantastic contrast to the sound of the rest of the piece, thus again underline Williams enormous creativity.
In conclusion, one can say that the publication of this song was the right move exactly to catapult Robbie after his 3-year absence from the stage back at the center of European pop world and the anticipation of his appearing on November 6 album "Reality Killed The "to increase Video Star.
