Anyone dealing for long with HiFi components knows that JBL is a unit manufacturer a fixture in the brand circus. With its "Control" series, they have for many years a perennial favorite in the program, of which white-I is found in countless living rooms, party rooms, offices, conference rooms, department stores, swimming pools, hotel lobbies and around the world. Robust, virtually indestructible and this neat-sounding all-purpose boxes for every application.
The JBL Control 2.4G Wireless is the wireless, active = with built-in amplifier-equipped variant of the already almost legendary Control 1G and promises so that the long-awaited solution for ordinary music consumption without stripping connection to the plant to be. Finally, there are indeed abound radio speaker table horns from electronics Wühltisch Affordable but nothing that could be done seriously listen to music.
Unfortunately, the thing 2 hooks:
1. The radio link between the transmitter and box is lousy. With us between conditioning in lounge and boxes in the office (same floor) are about 7m straight line, through the winding old way with 4 walls in between. This is almost insurmountable, there are only totally noisy transmit fragments to the destination.
Only by consuming installation of the transmitter to another location through with visual contact with the boxes, across the corridor through 2 doors, it is better but still not perfect. In "service area" persons walking about quickly lead to noise, interference and dropouts.
2. The quality of the active boxes resp. more specifically of the amplifier in is very modest, it produces a lasting, quiet noise level (as long as it has not automatically shut off, what happens after some time with no signal). You hear it only when you get close to the Music Box loose approach but goes for a plant with claim is basically a knock-out criterion and with a reputable manufacturer such as JBL, one wonders how that came about through the quality control of development.
I have back and forth about whether or not we keep the boxes or not. The desired wireless coupling of the office to the living room sound is given only conditionally. On the other hand, is an active stereo speakers-couples with an additional line input and subwoofer output (what depends on me also active Yamaha subwoofer) together with remote control, wall brackets and cables for approximately EUR 200, - three times worth the money and even without the radio option in many situations Class used, for example, on the terrace or in the hobby room.
Against this background arise benevolent 3 stars as a means of 4 stars for a multifunctional, active control in 1G known robust housing and 1 star for us basically unusable wireless connection.
