The author, Christian Ligier, choosing to tell the life of one of the greatest painters of the history of Art, author of "The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist", or the controversial "Death of Virgin ", instead of opting for a straightforward statement of facts more or less well written, has opted to tell the story in reverse. Indeed, the book opens with the death of Caravaggio, and finally his arrival in Rome, the eternal city of Art. The narrator, a fictional friend without doubt the painter, stands a personification, as taking his friend to the party to take a look at his life and his work. This book not only speaks of the work of Caravaggio, but also the character, a legendary personality, who, nose and beard of all the powerful, painted with the grace of heaven, taking his models in the street, prostitutes and other common people in which he saw the face of God. Literary curiosity, certainly, but also documentary about a better and more impertinent brushes of Art, its mainly biblical scenes with the ability to take you to the guts and make you feel looking at them, you approach a little more the "Beautiful".
