Operation:
Almost self-explanatory. The machine provides various coffees at your fingertips. The adjustment is made on a sufficiently large easy to read OLED display. The menu navigation is well structured, so to get to the desired adjustment menu in a few steps. If I want to record on reducing the amount of water in the Cappucino that goes in 3 steps: In the Main Menu select the item drinks, then displays a submenu with the available types of beverages. Here select Cappucino, the different variations of temperature appear to amount of coffee. Select sub-item quantity of water, adjust desired amount, save and you're done. Easier than ever.
We have had the manual are in the first week still next to the machine, now it's in the drawer because all family members to operate now dominate. Especially the example was when DeLonghi a big problem, since the operation was not logical and you had to read updates always first in the manual how to do that.
A real highlight is the milk preparation. Easy removable milk container dock, milk dispenser positioned above cup, the rest makes the machine automatically through to cleansing. The milk container can easily be removed and stored in the refrigerator, which is a huge advantage over my old machines. Here you had to the amount of milk exactly portioned and had stes too much or too little milk in the machine.
The machine is relatively small and compact, so that it is well to accommodate even in small kitchens. By design it is an eye-catcher.
However this compact design also brings some minor drawbacks. The water is filled from the top, so you can place the machine badly under wall cabinets. What annoys me is the position of the master switch on the back of the machine. I want the device does not have to continuously run stand-by, so I fummle everyday blindly around on the back in order to switch off using the master switch. This could have been a better solution.
Also a result of the compact design is that large latte macchiato glasses poorly fit under the coffee dispenser. The donor can indeed be set horizontally and vertically, but unfortunately it is too low for the really big glasses.
Maintenance:
A coffee machine needs to be meticulously maintained and cleaned so that one long having fun on the device and it provides permanently good quality coffee. Just my older Saeco and Jura machines in my circle required a lot of maintenance because they quickly denied otherwise the service.
Therefore it is very important that cleaning and maintenance is straightforward unless you have fun to build coffee machines apart.
The Philips Saeco Exprelia Evo class is very easy to clean and maintain. Especially susceptible to microbial contamination is the milk cycle that it is automatically cleaned after each cup with steam. The removable milk container can be taken apart easily and rinse with hot water.
The display shows when the grounds container and water overflow must be emptied. The front of the fully automatic machines can be opened easily, so that you can easily refer to these containers. The same applies to the brewing unit, which you should rinse week.
A major problem with the coffee machine is calcified. Here you can firstly determine the Kalkgrad of water used with a supplied test strips, and then adjust. A water filter for optional installation is included and is easy to install. The machine will indicate when it has to carry out a Kalkreinigung that runs fully automatically. (Descaling I made a special experience over time, see below)
A bottle of descaler is attached. The follow-up costs for replacement filters and descaling agent resident in the usual for such machine frame. Maintenance means you can order from Amazon in the subscription, it is more favorable.
Taste:
Simply sensational. Whether espresso, regular coffee, cappuccino or latte macchiato, the Philips Saeco Exprelia Evo class provides coffee in a quality that I previously knew only from Italian restaurants. Beautiful crema, stable milk foam, intense coffee flavor, everything top.
Here, the various configuration options become noticeable. Since you can change almost any variable, you can let his personal tastes come into play fully. For me it is especially important that you can also influence the coffee temperature. I was always annoyed at our old DeLonghi about my opinion on some hot coffee, you had to drink quickly before it gets cold.
In another review was the only downside of the machine would be that a lot of coffee thirsty visitor in the kitchen you could suddenly. This effect we could observe and so far the taste has any / n Visitors / in conviction.
Conclusion:
The Philips Saeco Exprelia Evo class is already become the Mttelpunkt our kitchen and has increased its coffee consumption significantly. The little quirks described can be imperfection in the face of superior overall look of the machine. Easy operation and maintenance, and above all the quality of coffee they make for me the perfect coffee machine. Despite the high purchase price of my side a strong buy recommendation.
Supplement after several months usage: The coffee is still delicious, but unfortunately a big problem has been in the maintenance of the machine result. As the machine for the first time indicated the need for descaling, we have started the process properly. Here, unfortunately, the descaling remained in the first step and then put the machine was no longer. Only after its own shutdown days from the mains probably worked a reset mechanism, and we were able to make coffee again. Now we met at the 2nd descaling exactly the same mistake again. The machine is the first step stuck and then run this first step in a continuous loop repeatedly through. A call to the hotline SAECO brought no solution ("Pack the machine"). But the fact is that as we have seen Internet forums, this problem occurs more often. So strange that Philips Saeco ignored this problem and no solution other than return and repair offering (which yes is expensive after the warranty).
Therefore, I have reduced my original 5 star rating to 3 Stars.
