I find the book a bit disappointing, but it's hard to define why. I think missing here a lot of what makes the interest of the "Chronicles of Krondor" or the "Trilogy of the Empire." For example, the story starts with a team of very interesting characters, but only one will be fully developed, which is quite frustrating. Furthermore, it lacks the mystery. I like that there are hidden elements - as often with Feist - and the overall logic only reveals itself gradually over the volumes. In "Shadow of a black queen," spent the first quarter of the book, we already know what the purpose of the adventure and everything goes as planned until the end; no surprises and it decreases the value of reading. Finally, Feist embroiders here on a "pretext" scenario, a little inconsistent. But still, it's an enjoyable read, there is no need to do violence to it and put crocher. This is especially true from the time the main character starts to evolve, to influence events rather than be bullied by them. I'll even read more in the hope that this adventure will take off later.
