Probably the most important question that all concerned would be interested in the 900A and like to run with XP:
- How quickly the internal 8GB MLC SSD is compared to the 4GB SLC SSD from the predecessor. The answer is quite simple: With a FAT32 instead NTSF Formation Windows XP comes fantastic clear and it navigates and operates almost like a big PC. Fast is because we in some memory-intensive applications already noted a slight delay. During normal office use with Internet, Word, Excel, etc. However, this is not felt and the small 900A plays his mobility from perfect. Technically, the 900A is a 901 in the housing / dress of 900, hence the different pole battery connector on the motherboard. Price makes the default, however a difference of almost 100 Euro (which fall here already about 50 euros for the XP license)
But here again all PROs summarized:
- The smallest, lightest and most powerful netbook on the market
- Fantastic viewing angle from all directions on the small matte screen
- Intel Atom CPU with Hyperthreating, on Windows easily and high runtertaktbar
- Very very Leister case fan that barely runs at the 45nm Atom CPU and very good TDP values.
- Fully and easily upgradeable with 2GB RAM, or correspondingly faster internal SSD hard drive as fast SLC or MLC standard.
- Very good touchpad and mouse buttons
- On the 8GB SSD Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and fits various adaptation much better than on the 4GB SSD of the 700, 900, 901 series as drive compression is not necessary here and the system according to round runs.
- Larger programs like Photoshop, Lotus Notes, etc. can be installed on external SD card and can be started with no problems, so as to relieve the SSD.
- Battery life under normal operating about 3.5 to 4 hours.
Cons:
- Batteries not compatible with 901, 900, 700 series
- Substandard keyboard (disease of all Eee PCs)
From my side of the 900A is thus a small tip on the netbook, because for so little money, you get more value currently nowhere commanded.
