I was searching the net for good soundtracks and on one side they recommended this as a "the best". From the movie I had never heard and the director (Memento, Black Swan, Reqiem for a Dream - Clive Mansell is probably something like his house-and-yard-composer) therefore promised not say anything bad. Well, I was still skeptical but first as I usually do not think much statements listed above ("The Fountain" was also still a Kassenflopp) and made a first time an audition and looked at excerpts on YouTube. 20 minutes later I had ordered the soundtrack on Amazon.
A very melancholy soundtrack with violins and cello, played by the Kronos Quartet, draw 10 tracks that are very well suited for dark and rainy afternoons. Would like to emphasize here besonderst Track 6 "Xibalba" simply touches a somehow. Of course, not all the tracks just a revelation. Some pieces increase downright annoying to Crescendo (due to the plot of the film) and I always gescippt (deductions in the B-Note). But the bottom line is a highly successful soundtrack.
