What I would have called his own mid-90s as a pimply teenager in Star Wars fever, the games like "Hero Quest" and "Star Quest", but where to have such a game! "Star Wars Imperial Assault" is truly the ultimate Star Wars board game, for fans a revelation, if only because of the attractive game material, the fantastic miniatures and the familiar characters among them. Some became the game itself here already said: Basically, it is in the rules of the game to an improved version of Descent, ME rather the 2nd Edition, and I must agree with a previous reviewer that also elements from the gelungeneren. 1 edition of Descent have found their way in Imperial Assault. Compared to Descent better the flow of a game turn, rebels and Imperial players is alternately turn, that makes the game much more tactical. In addition, the rebels heroes are not just yet "felled" (as in Descent), but they may also, after being wounded, leaving the game - that makes some situations a lot more complex and therefore more exciting! But the biggest selling point is the successful balancing: the Imperial is not only responsible for the setting of the game and provides the cannon fodder for the rebels, but he has a task that he has to meet, just like the players of the rebel characters. Mostly it is this one of the two sides to comply within a given time limit - a lot of time for reflection or senseless comings and goings on the board does not stay here. In previous missions in our round in the story really well-technically successful campaign of the Imperial players could more missions to decide for themselves when the rebels. Ultimately, for the victory in a campaign but only the last mission critical - but victory in previous missions bring benefits to one of the two sides with him, for example more powerful weapons skills etc.. Thematically Fantasy Flight Games has made really burn anything: the Star Wars feel is every second of the game at present and can be further enhanced when in the background a Star Wars score runs naturally. It will be interesting, what worlds we still allowed to visit as part of this game, which characters will still show up etc .; in the basic game it verschlägt players among other things on the jungle moon Yavin 4, after Corellia (home Han Solo) and to Ord Mantell (one recalls Hans quote from "The Empire Strikes Back": "... After the encounter with the bounty hunter on Ord Mantell, I've changed my mind! "... Anyway, the first expansion of the game named" Twin Shadows "is already in the starting blocks, which in this country not even the basic game is available in German language. But with reasonably decent command of English is the gameplay anything in the way.
Summary: For all Star Wars and at the same board game fans can only express a strong buy recommendation!
