Customer Review

As a longtime fan of the band Three Days Grace and after all my clothes the four released albums with singer Adam Gontier in its spell, it was obviously a shock for me, as the band announced the end of 2013 to phase their masterminds and lead singer Gontier. The fast Occupy this position by My Darkest Days singer Matt Walst I was initially quite skeptical towards. Although I was always a fan of the MDD songs Walsts voice would also fit the sound to TDG? The release of the first single, "Painkiller", as well as the billing Gontiers with the band and especially the Berlin concert of TDG in September 2014 allowed me to only one result: Adam Gontier one must not miss. I would even go so far as to say that TDG never so playful, aggressive, free and "catchy" sounded like now. One should Gontier be grateful for the great songs that he has given this band, but that time is over and Walst is not a "very good substitute," as is often claimed, but a step forward for TDG. In order not too euphoric right after the release of the album "Human" to submit a review, I wanted to make the album a little effect on me and then at some distance to submit a review. Specifically, this means:

1) "Human Race": not a typical opener of an album, much more an interesting mix of driving opener and a repetitive intro. The structure of the song surprised especially with the first Hörgängen something, but eventually fall in love with the aggressive verses, the chorus sufferer and the mysterious recurrent Bridge ("I do not belong here (...)"). Blade at the beginning these items lost something among themselves, they form after repeated listening a comprehensible structure and unity. A song that encourages the listener's interest directly and a thoughtful and profound right. 9/10

2) "Painkiller": By now already something of a classic TDG. If you consider that this was the first joint song of the guys for this album, shows just how much this has to be right chemistry. A chorus and a bridge that no longer go from the ear after the first hearing, accompanied by Barry Stocks aggressive guitar and a driving rhythm. So must TDG anno sound 2015 and freed in such a fresh and no longer sounded a TDG-single for a long time. 10/10

3) "Fallen Angel": Simpler and catchy song, which increases its tension and atmosphere every second and empties into a chorus that somewhere between rock ballad, which invites you to sway, and sorry for full post-grunge sound, which gives food for thought , is. Exactly such songs make TDG known and strong songs that sound though quite eingänig, but never cheerful. That's here once again succeeded and especially reveals this song, how much the voice of Matt Walst has developed. Its at this point rather deep voice, he once again presents his vocal potential and repertoire. 8/10

4) "Land Mine": The so far hardest and most aggressive song on the album, in the Walst even goes a step further and show how powerful, heavy and powerful his voice may sound. Stanzas that represent in some way the calm before the storm, lead to a raid-like, cool and hard chorus that gets stuck easily. Here the same applies as for "Painkiller", so free, aggressive and honest is no longer sounded TDG long. 9/10

5) "Tell Me Why": The first "classic" TDG ballad on "Human", so to speak, the "Wake Up" or "Never Too Late" this album. Floor provides a typical TDG Guitar motif in the verses from and the song contains a chorus that sounds downright soulful and to despair, while certainly knows how to convince as "catchy" and overall a round thing without the wheel to invent. But exactly those songs you know and love TDG learned. 8/10

6) "I Am Machine": Wow, wow, wow. This song, the second single from the album, shows more than anyone else on the album, how alive and strengthened the band following a difficult period of change singer has stepped out. I've never heard a song that sounds so brutal and aggressive and doing so so catchy. He has enormous "addictive" and is almost a challenge to Gontier and every "Hater", who has already written off the band after the departure. At the latest from here is clear: Yes, TDG are better than ever. 10/10

7) "So What" already show the live recordings, which have created a mood Monster TDG here. The voice of Walst sounds more like My Darkest Days as on any other song on the album and that's a good thing. "So What" with its driving, somehow cheerful, somehow aggressive chorus, leaves no bobbing walk quietly and it feels downright attracted, "so what?" mitzubrüllen. With this song out The tape skin a simple but unmistakable message: "We do what we like and if you do not like, then f *** off." Walst the band has instilled new confidence and made sure that the band is "So-What-Attitude" also decreases this. 9/10

8) "Car Crash": Short, initially peaceful, then aggressive song that makes us contemplative and is completely counterintuitive. In the middle of the song Walst shows once again that he is a strong singer. Roughly equivalent to "Get Out Alive" by "One-X" album, a ballad that every second increases and eventually "exploded". 8/10

9) "Nothing's Fair In Love And War": Perhaps the weakest song on the album, even though it does not really exist "weak" on this album. Although the chorus holds quite catchy potential and the song also includes a cool guitar work of floor, anyway this song is a little too much "play it safe". 7/10

10) "One Too Many": Perhaps the "poppigste" song on the album, however, rocking packed. The "catchy" verses would invite each club to dance and the chorus simply invites you to sing along. Because Walst very strong and aggressive on the mic is however active and also the rhythm section skin neatly into Mett, is however by no means a schmaltzy pop song, but simply an awesome feel-good rockers who still the healthy dose of seriousness contains. 10/10

11) "The End Is Not The Answer": A re offbeat song, but again tops the previous of the same kind almost. The chorus gets stuck in your head and the message of never giving up comes over honest and emotional and thought-provoking. All virtues stood for TDG in their songs live on here and therefore the song is both sonically and lyrically, convince all fans, which TDG has always been important and will be. Barry Stock also delivers a short but beautiful solo, of which there are unfortunately a bit too few are on the album. The joy to all the fans will in any case be rightly great because for TDG was the motto: ". The end is not the answer" 9/10

12) "The Real You": The last song on the album and better the end would really can not be. A melancholic piano ballad that is true both thoughtful and hopeful and can compete with the biggest ballads of TDG easily. Similar to the song "Last To Know" from "Life Starts Now" album, TDG show here in perfection as a ballad must sound in modern rock music. The soulful and profound verses lead into a strong and epochal chorus, before the album finally melancholic and slowly fades and a contemplative leaves. 10/10

Conclusion: In addition, one wonders at the end of the last song also whether it was in fact already since the last 12 songs and over 40 minutes went by in a flash. While this is a bit on the whole somewhat short playing time of the plate, but above all to the simple and extremely powerful songs. Each song has its own unique charm and no one raises the feeling that you somehow had to fill the album. Much more you can feel in every single note played, sung in every word, the fun, the pleasure, the honesty and the fighting spirit of the band (I could also experience live) forms a unit than ever before in their career before. Rarely has a band is without prejudice resulted from a singer change, TDG have it passed with flying colors and more: TDG have managed to virtually re-strengthened and bolder than ever before to get out of this situation. In addition, they have gone innovative new ways, without, however, neglecting their old strengths. An absolutely perfect "comeback" one of the greatest rock bands of modern times and now I am looking forward to the moment to be able to read again, "we are working on our next record." Because the fact that TDG will never give up, they are likely with this album and the associated success have even supported.
