I would like to give my opinion on this book after reading reviews of other readers. I think we should restore two or three important things that seem to have escaped some. First, describe the book as "tissue of nonsense" is really moved. For more than just a manual of recipes or DIY naturalist Alain Saury offers us a real compendium on wildlife, which addresses all the existential situations and universal knowledge about life and nature that we should teach our children the evening instead of watching silly TV. It is therefore a good and great work he offers us there, almost inexhaustible. Then the philosophical and ecological orientation Alain Saury wanted to include in his work, is not uninteresting, because life in nature means staying connected to strong values that would prevent us from monkeys or become bloodthirsty beasts more or less long term if ever ... Then, be sure to read the title. It is a wild LIFE manual and no survival. It is not done for either a fighter or a hiker. Its size makes it comfortable to read and study. It is not made to be put in a backpack, but in asset library that you would achieve if returned to nature. Personally, it would be an ark that would help me feel safe because of the incredibly dense knowledge it contains. And also small buttons included poetry here and there, reassuring and soothing for any improvised Robinson. Finally, it was necessary that all authors have lived what they say, Jules Verne would not exist and there would not be many books no longer in circulation today. An author can achieve excellent research in order to gather useful information, without necessarily having all experienced. Saury was able to do, no doubt. My conclusion is this: If I had to go live in nature for any reason whatsoever, I would take with me a pocket Bible, "The Mysterious Island" by Jules Verne (pocket as well), and the big book Alain Saury. Kind regards.
