After much reading of all possible tests and opinions I decided about 2 weeks ago to buy the Tokina 11-16mm. After about 100 photos I have a good first impression of the performance of the lens. Used a Nikon D7000, only RAW photos. I am delighted with the viewing angle, which results in 11mm. Another world, of course, compared to eg the standard zoom 18-105mm, but also compared to the previously tested Tokina 12-24mm. Sharpness: excellent, impressive in the center, at the edge noticeably softer but no unpleasant waste. Stopping down to f / 4 and higher are achieved excellent sharpness even on the edge. The contrast and the color reproduction is very good, to compensate for the distortion easily via software. The lens profile is stored in Lightroom (version 5), but it must be manually selected. This operation is, in my view anyway regular part of the wide-angle machining, if only because of adjusting the perspective of (in architectural photography). The vignetting is pleasant, I get it even after editing with Lightroom. Chromatic aberrations are an issue, but again helps unproblematic a correction in Lightroom. I can compare directly with the Tokina 12-24mm, I keep my 11-16mm for significantly sharper in the center already at full aperture and at Stopping down to f / 4 then also over the entire image area, too, the contrast of the 11-16mm is noticeably the more favorable Tokina superior. The construction is very robust and provides a high-quality feel. Backlight tests (a weak point of the Tokina 11-16mm According to many opinions) are still pending. The Auto Focus (motor operation from the D7000) provides excellent sharp. All in all, 5 stars, I am absolutely satisfied and convinced that the quality of the Tokina is only f / 2.8 exceeded by three times as expensive Nikon 12-24mm truly sustainable.
Supplement for another 200 images: backlight problems I could not find, even shots in the sunlight directly to a large extent free from flares. Lace look, buy recommendation!
