It was written here very much and also KINDS OF NONSENSE about this device - what some New prospects could unsettle.
Some false statements are apparently due in part to a lack of use or do not have enough technical knowledge.
Here is a high-tech device that unwinds a complex workload. It is therefore sufficient not, click around in pretty short time menu and to think that one knows everything. Then comes inevitably to frustration. This and the "work" apparently not, you scolds, air makes itself in a negative review, whilst being mentally on the wrong track.
I believe that it is absolutely necessary to read the manual and it takes a while until you have mastered all the features of this recorder and can enjoy it to the fullest. Because it really is top notch!
That's why I put the focus of my review less on "I find good" / "I do not like that" - but on clear information and practical tips.
Please do not be alarmed if my contribution at first glance appear a bit long. When reading one realizes that here - is informed nothing unnecessary - except for a few personal remarks.
Before you start with the actual review, I have to get rid of something.
Property me again the "lowest" read reviews and am absolutely appalled at the verbal gaffes.
Top-negative reviewer "Daisy" uses this forum only become a veritable hate campaign against positive voices to the recorder and also not afraid of massive personal insults. If the "slap" permanently the "evil" Company name (here: Panasonic) is mentioned, so to a certain suspicion arises and it makes me suspicious that the worst review from a person who has not bought this recorder demonstrably , Why then sit here and write interminable extermination posts, if not put a specific intention behind it?
Too bad that one. In a pure technology forum in which it should just be a matter of exchanging experiences in a civilized way, also have to experience so unpleasant and unfair behavior
Now the recorder: The various negative reviews I was in doubt whether I should buy him. But there is in the market at this price level is only one alternative for a recorder with Full HD twin tuner and Blu-Ray burning option (the portion still slightly worse). 3 weeks before the recorder was offered by a contractor on Amazon. A few days later the unit was purchased by Amazon itself. As I slammed. Nowhere has such a generous return period as here (30 days). So enough time to test everything thoroughly! It was an absolute fortune buying and now I can finally give my own judgment.
My rating:
1. General information on device
The recorder (I have the silver version) is made perfect material, has an elegant appearance and a super light weight.
The initial installation goes by itself and with absolutely no difficulties.
It included a terrific detailed and very well understandable manual, which is nowadays not a foregone conclusion. You just have to put in his head.
The menu navigation is smooth, easy and visually great prepared.
The recorder runs extremely quietly and without spurious noise.
2. EPG - the program guide and correct alleged deficiencies
I have the reviewers ETK (creator of "penny!") Disagree violently when the EPG referred to as "bad" and "primitive" and the recording - attributes and copying restrictions the recorder.
Today I (1. 5. 2014) ETK's contribution that he originally written in August 2013, read and found that he has since changed some statements again. My statements, relating to the functions of the recorder, still remain valid.
The Program Guide (EPG) in landscape mode (logic, a table on a wide-screen display again admittedly so) is very clear and can be very fast in the days and times before - and Reset. During the days you can on the yellow or green button rapidly backwards - and forth (+/- 24 hours). The synopses of the program (they are for one week in advance completely and without gaps) are accessed via the Info button.
The shipments are programmed with a single keystroke. The timer display will appear immediately, you land automatically on the time setting and can - if necessary - at lightning speed, the beginning - and end time change. All in all (incl. Change time) an expense of 5 seconds. Great!
If anyone thinks that the Guide "Yesterdays" would, is utter nonsense. I know 8 different EPGs in the circle and this is surpassed by none other. It is generally such that the content data are sparse, the broadcast date is farther in the future. No known me EPG is for more than one week in advance information about the programs. This is due to the system of transmission of broadcasting and not on the recorder, the only retrieves the information and not even "written". Since there are program changes or shifts frequently, as well as the guests of a political round not firmly stand up to the end times, it would be nonsense to build complete EPGs for a longer period, which would then be like a holey cheese. Detail to get served in advance of a hundred channels for a week, but really should be enough. Recording - and copying restrictions
Some people can not distinguish the device technology and the limitations of the television and find fault with the "head" of all trades, although the problem of the "Po-hole" - namely, the transmission signal, which comes from the outside - is located.
I can assure you that in this recorder not an evil little dwarf lives, the owner with his own "vexatious recording - and copy restrictions" annoys ... ;-) Both concepts I explain in more detail under step 4.
Someone reported very upset that has indeed changed automatically when changing the time for Daylight Saving Time, the recorder, but has also moved all previously set "Winter" timer-programming by one hour. That's true!
These overzealous "Doppelmoppelei" is not without a certain humor - but not totally all logic. If you have namely the basic timing NOT set to "automatic" (also possible manually), the automatic changing of already programmed programs would be quite helpful and useful. It is therefore to be regarded rather as "About" service, which was something in the pants.
Have it with humor, changed the programming in question immediately and these "serious firmware bug" forgiven generously because the recorder has asked me all by itself to review all existing timer programs following the time shift for accuracy. The winter time is ripe for the end of October Gewurschtel only again and perhaps the errors then regular updates (which can be done automatically) fixed.
Incidentally, it is generally the case that the recorder repeatedly with its owner "speaks"! In various settings it delivers each its own detailed explanations so that one undertakes nothing that could limit the technical process.

3. Recording
The television recording function technically like clockwork. I read here that the recordings do not start or end time. If a recording "shortly before the end" ends, which is rare on the recorder, but on the fundamental fact that very few programs start at the minute and end on time and do not always arrive the transmission signals accurately. I have never left it, but admit routinely before each mailing 2 minutes and then 5 to 10 minutes. Is done in seconds and really no effort. So I never the problem, that something is missing from the film. In known "enrobing" shows how Musikantenstadl, a football match or "Wetten dass ..." I would even give 45 minutes on it, if this would be "my" broadcasts.
Special case: You can record two programs in parallel without any problems (with an overlap so). But if a third recording comes into play, there is another overlap, possibly a recording will be canceled 2 minutes before the end, because the recorder to the next shot (with changing channels, possibly also still needs to be decoded at the) must prepare. One gets during programming an indication and should look into the timer list, which broadcast might be shortened unintentionally (it is highlighted). Then extend the end time as a precaution manually by a few minutes. Although the missing from the beginning of the subsequent recording, is probably easier to get over when the missing end of a thriller. Conversion options
Some reviewers complain that the recordings only in DR mode (original quality) are possible. That's right - but you can convert the images from the initial DR mode to another format to save space, for example, on the hard disk..
In each mission assigned timer display always appears first "Convert. From". When clicked, it changes the status to "convert a" and can be made by arrow keys select the following qualities:
HG, HX, HE, HL, HM, XP, SP, LP and EP. The recording is then converted into the desired format and subsequently automatically from the DR mode. For further explanations of the different formats can be found in the manual.

Since I copy really attractive films on disc, I have decided for the "smaller" 500 GB hard drive. It has room for 30 (!) 2-hour feature films in DR-high quality and lots of "odds and ends".
1TB (1000GB!) I personally exaggerated. The recordings are stacked to a vast mountain and you should never be more out of the browsing and searching. Why you should buy this recorder, if you have no interest to copy his favorite movies on Blu-Ray / DVD and thus securely outsource? Does the Recorder times broken, you can forget the crowded hard drive anyway.
External Hard Drive
Another important point: Many people believe that they have an external hard drive a safe and trouble-free outsourcing opportunity and do not consider that they were registered for the paired device (in this case the recorder) and with any other devices (eg. a PC) communicates.
If the "partner" should be omitted IPMENT one day, you can all the recordings on the external hard drive also forgotten. An external hard drive provides only the ability to keep recordings in the medium separately (z. B. adult content that is not intended to be in Recorder). They can not even play in the apartment if you have not the TV or recorder coupled thereby.
My advice: Always nice copy to disc, if you want to lose any shot! I copy valuable films always immediately, because you never know if everything will be fine the next time. Technical defects login never before to ... ;-)
4. Recording - and copying restrictions
Now to a problem that is really uncomfortable:
Complete RTL HD channels group (RTL HD, Super RTL HD, RTL 2 HD and RTL Nitro HD) and other pay-TV channels (Servus TV HD, Vox HD, TNT movie HD) prune rigorously recording function and thus is a also subsequent copy is exercised on disc.
This is due to commercial interests and opaque film and broadcasting rights and it carries the recorder not to blame, because it accepts only the corresponding signals. On my TV, which also has a recording function, it is the same. So please understand that there is no technical defect is present at the terminal!
The restriction is as follows: The recording has a time-limited "Playback authorization" of 90 minutes from the start of the film. That is exactly: You must link the recording later than watch at 21.45, when the film started at 20.15 clock. Omitted that, she goes out to 21.46 clock and can be found only an empty frame in the song list.
Such an admission is relatively useless (you only have the advantage of small time offset and can advertisement on coil). Later copying can forget.
The recorder is constantly pointing out that a shot goes off and soon marks them even with a red stopwatch in the title list. He can not do more. As I mentioned earlier on, he constantly communicates with its owner in order to spare him discomfort.
Theo, who has been giving me some useful comments, writes that make the channels, so you do not copy movies, cut (remove ADVERTISING) and before - and rewind (ADVERTISING ignore) can. In the manual, the insidious restrictions are also mentioned, justified though not a word and explained.
If you want to be sure that you can play and copy a recording indefinitely, so I guess at the vexatious transmitters with slightly poorer image quality on the free channels include (without HD). Then anything can happen.
The first HD, ZDF HD, Arte HD, 3sat HD and all third HD channels are free and have, in principle, no recording - and copying restrictions. It will therefore experience no nasty surprise after shooting.
Small personal note to another "arbitrary copy harassment":
One reviewer complained that the recorder's own private video recordings a whole quarter of an hour checks before copying. I can understand this precaution quite, since you also might get the idea to copy illegal or copyrighted material and distribute commercially. What therefore "lack" to the recorder have in this regard? And besides, yet succeeded in copying his videos!
Edit 5. Recording (delete parts and Divide Title)
One can "delete parts" on the recordings very comfortable and spotlessly clean cut (z. B. Advertising remove).

If the confusion with "Start" and "end" is too big, just go out again and start fresh. Do not worry, it works already and with a little practice you will very quickly become "cutting professional" and it's how it's pretzel baking!
Addendum on 20. 4. 2014: A reviewer wrote that you could not cut the recordings at the beginning and end. I have today - after 2 months of operation - for the first time experienced at "AXN". I got a message that the point can not be set here. The transmitter would probably prevent you and program instructions pinch off advertising. So I removed "Divide Title" on the end.
6. playability on other devices and selection of the blanks
If you have the recordings (cut or not) or copied to Blue Ray DVD and recorded the disc finished, finalizing one should not forget. Otherwise, they may not play later on "all devices". This term is already covered, as played on "ALL" devices does not work anyway, because it of course always on the grade / or. Compatibility of the terminal and the type of disc is. It has z. There are also differences in quality of the blanks and I would test which are most trustworthy. The re-recordable discs are not suitable for "all devices" according to my personal experience frequent and DVD large pack blanks from discounters are not exactly world champion in universal compatibility. This recorder can recognize and formats it not even. My old forest - and meadow Recorder they were good enough ... but they had there hooked when you play often "air holes" and. For blanks you should - just like the device - ensure you have good quality. More details of blanks follow the same under Section 7.
7. Copy on Blu-ray / DVD disc
The Blu-ray / DVD - playback - and recording quality is a treat! Picture and sound are absolutely brilliant and hard to beat. Self-recorded discs succeed perfectly!
Copy on Blue Ray Disc
This is my preferred medium copy! Although I would like to operate any brand advertising, I praise the Verbatim dual layer BD media (double time). Sensational quality and somewhat cheaper than z. B. TDK (also very good). The blank is formatted in seconds (not "up to 2 minutes" as the recorder indicates the beginning) and the "expected copy time" is also significantly below!
You get in front of the copy start an approximate preliminary estimate (z. B. 31 min. For a 90-minute film). The actual time is then only about 6 minutes!
My Blue Rays I burn basically in original quality (DR) and maximum high-speed. So - just copy and be surprised at how quickly that goes from equip!
High-speed speeds:
You can even choose between 2 high-speed velocities: When "Maximum" you have the above-described fast transmission, then a little louder, "purrs" (you can loose a few minutes bear). If you select "normal" copying happens a little slower and it quietly.
So you can find the setting:
Function Menu> Settings> Preferences> HDD / Disc / USB HDD> Settings for Recording> BD / DVD Speed. for high-speed copy.
There are 2 ways to copy:
a) I recommend: directly from the list of "content" on the blue button (quick and easy)!
b) on the Copy menu in the BD / DVD folder (found under "media"). This way is much more complicated!
One should remember that the copying is not possible during an ongoing pre-set timer recording. The blue button will not function during this period.
However, one can return during the copying process by pressing the OK button for receiving screen and shooting or viewing even titles on HDD spontaneously. Very comfortable!
During direct copy on the blue button DR-quality is automatically copied in the prime. If there is not enough space on the inserted disc to be present, will automatically communicated before copying and you can either use another disc or convert the recorder - without having something must adjust itself - in the best possible format for the remaining recording time the disc is available.
In Blue Ray copy menu (in the "Media" folder) appears in principle to "Copy Mode" first "high-speed". If you change anything, copying takes place automatically in DR and High Speed. Copy to DVD
Personally, I find the copy to DVD rather uninteresting - but here everything runs smoothly. However, there are (DVD quality permitting) not all formats.

Are the recordings have already been converted to the hard drive or should they be converted to other devices only during copy for more space or more playback options, everything is a bit more complicated because numerous conversion formats are proposed which you have set yourself. Want to users who have difficulty copying, simply enter the following advice:
Does not make you crazy, but studied only once in peace the table that appears before the copy start.
One should view each point and consider whether you have set him at all. For example: source, target, Copy mode and whether you have selected the / the right track and in more than one title, the title list is correct. When a song in the list is incorrect or duplicated (happens easily), easily removed with the DEL key.

Have to smile when I read: "Jaaah .. with my old recorder everything was viiiel easier ... terrible, what you need to set everything here!" Counter-question: And what had functionalities of our good old compared to this?

I read in a review that cut recordings are played incorrectly. Maybe - but it is not sure at RECORDER.
I cut extremely much and have yet to find a single mistake when playing a final disc. Possibly the / the reviewer / used in an inferior blank or the disc has not been finalized or played the cut recording on another player who does not possess the Qualtätsstandard this recorder and interfaces faulty "scans".
WATCH OUT !!! This recorder formatted NO Sony DVD blanks! In 88% of the formatting process stops without comment and moved no farther. The recorder can not use, you have to unplug the power cord, re-turn and bring out the disc. Helplessness! The non-recognition of the Sony discs one should complain about really, but it seemed to me also the following thought: Maybe not the recorder to blame, but may refuse Sony blanks the "cooperation" with a Panasonic recorder and have a "secret code" that of other manufacturers can not be cracked. My old Panasonic recorder has also not formatted Sony discs.
I find these fights among market giant repulsive - but as a customer you have to swallow that unfortunately. Sort 8 Tuning Classic (without favorite lists)
Yes, it's true that you're there only times a little overwhelmed. I find the offer for the division into "favorites" lists indeed luxurious - is to me personally then but too much of a good thing. Have no desire to make everything an extra list because my transmitter taste also may change again. I want to easily sort the channels so that I have everything clear in the Guide and do not interfere with any exotic divisions transmitter my program panel. Unfortunately, there is the manual for the classic sorting no clear and comprehensive guide, which I hereby like to take over.
And so it goes:
FUNCTION MENU (right long-button next to OK)> Settings> Preferences> DVB station table> settings for DVB-C channels (cable)> Channel list. It seems the current, still unordered list. The station that you want to move, select, and then the green button "PUSH". After pressing the button you can enter the desired channel. Is not really a "Push" but a direct admission. To confirm the new square again press the green button.
Note: Since many romp "interfering" stations at the front, the whole thing is a bit tedious. Because this does not disappear automatically but simply hang it. Example: at No. 7 is Bayern Alpha. One would like to have but at No. 7 Pro Sieben. It "moves" Pro Sieben at the right place and Bayern Alpha squats it ranked 8th Best boring transmitter pointing to the rear seats banish, so the overview is better. Nevertheless, the Order requires a lot of time around the 80 favorite channels ... :-) But even that is sometime overcome and a one-time effort that pays off.
Addendum on 6. 4. 2014: add new channels
Got a message when you turn on the recorder that "new channels were found," and if one wants to add them to the station list for a few days each time. I thought of the effort that has made my personal order, and worried that in a new action everything I have already ordered neatly, would again messed thrown and ignored the offer for now. Then my constant message went on his nerves and I ventured the new tuning.
Now there are all third programs added (as free channels) also in HD quality and there are still a number of new pay-HD channels!
Thank goodness ... the recorder was so gracious and attacked my own order and NOT the new station set-behaved in the rear area.
Still, it was a dog working to banish all the old third programs to replace the HD output and to decide which new stations may be of interest. Now everything is like licking and there's more visual enjoyment!
9. TV reception
The reception is always very good, only a few channels a little bit "streaky".
In diesem Fall kann man über die Wiedergabe-Einstellungen nachträglich Bildoptimierungen vornehmen (sehr gute Anleitung dazu im Handbuch) und es besteht außerdem die Möglichkeit, einen Sender bei nicht ganz optimalem Empfang über die manuelle Sendersuche nachzustellen. Habe ich noch nicht gemacht, weil es bisher nicht ernsthaft erforderlich war.
10. Twin Tuner - Aufnahmemöglichkeiten
Man kann 2 Free-TV-Sender gleichzeitig aufnehmen sowie einen Free-TV-Sender und einen Pay-Sender.
Es ist auch die gleichzeitige Aufnahme von 2 Pay-Sendern möglich, wobei allerdings eine der beiden Aufnahmen verschlüsselt erfolgt. Um diese Aufnahme ansehen und kopieren zu können, muss sie anschließend entschlüsselt werden, was man unmittelbar nach Abschluss der Aufnahme über:
OPTION > Bearbeiten > Dateientschlüsselung
machen kann oder durch eine grundsätzliche Voreinstellung über:
FUNCTION MENU > Einstellungen > Grundeinstellungen > HDD/Disc/USB HDD > Einstellungen für Aufnahme > Aufnahme für verschlüsselten Sender > "automatisch"
über Nacht geschehen lassen kann.
Da die Entschlüsselung genauso lange dauert wie der Film (zeitaufwändig!) und währenddessen keine Aufnahme und Wiedergabe möglich ist, ist wohl die "Nacht-Arbeit" am wenigsten störend.
Es gibt sogar 2 Kartenslots für verschiedene Smartcards. Ich besitze nur eine und kann darüber nichts Näheres berichten. Denke aber, dass sich dann nur das Sender-Angebot vergrößert, aber nicht die Aufnahmemöglichkeiten. Aus einem Twin-Tuner wird sicher kein Double-Twin-Tuner.
11. Tipp zur Verkabelung
Ich habe sowohl den Fernseher als auch diesen Recorder GETRENNT über je ein eigenes Empfangs-Kabel an die Kabelbuchse per Doppelstecker angeschlossen und sie NUR über das HDMI-Kabel (für die Bild/Ton-Übertragung verantwortlich) miteinander verbunden.
Durch den zusätzlichen Tuner kocht jedes Gerät sein eigenes Süppchen und ich kann außerdem auf die Festplatte, die an den Fernseher (der ebenfalls eine Aufnahmefunktion besitzt) angeschlossen ist, auch noch aufnehmen. Also: Drei Aufnahmen dreier verschiedender Sender GLEICHZEITIG aus
