I was pleasantly surprised how fast and easy the configuration and setup of the equipment.
In all menus I can find me quickly master.
Class also built-in WIFI - function with Internet radio.
The app for Android is great.
This means a total of 5 star clearly.
However, as I usually listen to music, not just TV / movies look, the sound in the music business is very important to me and because my ears are a bit spoiled.
The sound is getting used to for me, something center- weighted. I prefer clear brilliant highs with rich bass.
No matter how I choose to sound when RX-V677, the centers remain dominant to me. Some other, the centers will experience the sound beorzugt well as warm. But since I can not find a sound setting, when I feel comfortable I subtract a star.
What has disappointed me most are the submissive for my feeling bass.
Where are they?
Under Cinema Sound I also understand at z. B. action movies using rich basses just like in the movies.
My old system (stereo) has brute bass from the front two large speakers and the powered subwoofer whose volume I max. Can use 40%, then catch the glass doors of the living room cabinet to vibrate, which is really so and not a joke. The second pair of speakers connected to the old amplifier additionally has a good potential to Bass.
And now with the RX-V677? The two front speakers (whether configured in the menu as "large" or "small" if set as 6 ohms or 8 ohms, and with all sorts of sound programs) have incredibly little bass. Less even than the old amplifier, the weaker second Boxwenpaar. The subwoofer is the RX-V677 even only in operation when the front speakers in the setup - menu are set to "Small". ALSO: either deep bass of the front speakers or the subwoofer! Even my subwoofer was like pinched during operation.
With me came as absolutely no home theater - to feel. Even that little deep bass are present and the potential of the bass from the front speakers and the subwoofer can not add, I subtract a star.
My conclusion: If you are used to home theater sound with comparable receivers, is happy with the Yamaha almost certainly. He probably will not miss bass.
But you should love besides bass and treble and the middle, otherwise it may happen possibly, that the sound is perceived as dull somewhat, especially at low volumes. At higher volume the sound to my ears improved significantly.
For home theater - users of the RX-V 677 is therefore in my view worth considering.
The sound of other receiver should not be very different according to various test reports. The RX-V675 has könmnen predecessor already achieve good test results and was also at Stiftung Warentest test winner. With him, however, no WIFI is permanently installed and must be upgraded.
