And I must say, I am not disappointed!
I realize professionally with the lens industry recordings and architectural shots. All. In combination with a Nikon D700 / D800 / D4 In this sector of photography I use a good tripod (otherwise makes no sense the lens) and a camera control via an Android tablet. This has great advantages in connection with this objective, namely:
- Control of the vertical line through grid-grid. Has the camera even, the tablet is it but larger and you can set the number of lines as needed.
- Focus control extreme: You can focus the lens manually. The tablet can be as close Ranzoomen, which is a 100% focus possible.
- Tray serves as a "remote release". So you not shaking the camera around to trigger.
- I have to continuously move up and to have dimmed to a bright viewfinder image. In automatic mode, which is balanced with Live View. Moreover, I can tell the depth of field directly.
My Experiences:
+ Knackscharf. At full aperture (3.5) in the center well to the edge as expected sloping. But who photographed technical things already with Aperture 3.5? At f 5,6-8 it begins to make fun of and at f 11-16 it's really great. In combination with the edge elongation can make really great shots that still resolve small details very well.
+ Smooth focusing.
+ Vignetting (not shifted) Schonbein aperture 5,6-8 significantly reduced. At 11-16 no longer perceptible.
+ Tilt and shift levels are independently rotatable relative to each.
+ - Use the buttons it is debatable. Yes, they are a bit grippy Nikon. The Samyang comes with a little too smooth plastic knobs, therefore, to which one must get used to. Especially when tilt and shift plane in an axis. But in the rest lies strength. I have not the blind use and after a while you get used to it.
+ - Manual iris control. ... See note to the tray. And? Had not a Kardanmaster or technical schools. So what the heck.
- Despite good sharpness, an excellent price-performance ratio and provide all the other advantages offered by such an objective for the envisaged recordings, remains a point of criticism, which is sometimes a little regurgitates: The lens recorded slightly barrel-shaped, what the in landscape mode with the perpendicular to picture edges disturb. If the manufacturer as still screwed it a little, it would be great. I am then happy time tester for the new edition ;-)
This shortcoming I deal with the correction in Lightroom. If you already considered the possible trimming during recording, all is well.
Conclusion:
It has also for professional use an excellent lens with great sharpness and distortion acceptable. Considering the price, one can not complain about small weaknesses. Wen it so much bother, can Original Nikon / Canon buy and pay double the price. If you want even more, Schneider buys or hard lead and puts the 3- to 3.5 times on the counter. I am satisfied - more can not be expected for almost 1000 euros. If there was a sun visor in the delivery, it would be nice. The pennies should sit with it.
Otherwise, it is an objective not for the "clipper" of course, knows better and can and muckiert about everything that is not 100%. Whether it is the use, or that in a section of the 36-megapixel photo-D800E in the top left corner but can not read the doorbell at the door of the house photographed. I'm simply closer or take a longer focal length.
I have not regretted the purchase and am satisfied.
