Image quality - 5 stars
Both 2D and 3D, the 7606 just great. We do not belong to the category purchases in which each measurable value must have the top position. Show the many tests and postings that no device is error-free. The still praised plasma have their problems with energy consumption, hum and buzz and dark image in bright living rooms. Since the perfect cinema screen really good is not in the evening. The 7606 offers in all categories very good performance and still shines as energy savers.
3D we tested with the film "Sammy's Adventures" and it's awesome. Now we are looking for a lot of good 3D movies. Unfortunately, Avatar is not available over the counter, because Panasonic has acquired the Exlusivrechte. But I bervor buy a Pana device, I'd rather lose Avatar in 3D, on principle.
SAT tuner - 5 Stars
I do not understand the many problems in the forums. I have the SAT system connected directly. No whistling the tuner, all the channels found perfect HD transmitter perfect quality, SD channels still very good quality. In HD + transmitter we renounce voluntarily, because advertising in HD does not need to pay extra money. The sorting of the channels is a bit awkward, but doable if you want to move a maximum of 10 stations. Philips has a PC tool in beta testing, which is to be published in the coming months so that we can then also sort the channels nearly 1000 found. About the export and import function via USB the channel list can be edited.
The switching time between channels is certainly not the fastest, but perfectly happy for me stellend.
Uptake of programs we have not yet tested. Did we also not a priority, because we have not done it in the past.
Sound quality - 5 stars
This flat flounder has a really rich sound from the internal speakers. Who does not lay claim to cinema sound, for it is perfectly adequate. We still have our old 5.1 theater system, we can thank optical digital inputs continue to use.
Remote Control - 4 stars
Unfortunately, Philips has since missed a bit the connection, when I look at Samsung's new remote controls.
You do everything you want, but not very elegant. The TV itself is very stylish and classy with its Ambilight, since the remote control falls somewhat. It would be a hammer, if the remote control would also Ambilight, then you could use it in the dark as well.
Net TV - 4 1/2 stars
We tried only DLNA video and photos, and viewed a film about the app "VideoCiety". Everything works perfectly. More we do not need at the moment. Unfortunately, there is no Skype with Net TV. Would be nice if Philips would retrofit there. Connections for WebCam're available.
Conclusion
Although we initially did not have the Philips on the radar, the device has absolutely convinced us. The design stands out from the unimaginative mass of Asian manufacturers out, thanks Ambilight a real hammer. The functionality is convincing in all disciplines with a few criticisms. And the price is unbeatable for a 55-inch model of this quality. Absolute buy recommendation!
