I use the software to develop RAW images which I shoot with a Nikon P7700 (mainly Pictures). The program brings to lengths more from the images out as the camera's internal software (JPG out of cam), I feel like I'm working with a much more expensive camera with a larger sensor. Above all bothered me on the P7700 the often exaggerated strong chiaroscuro contrast in JPG mode (the camera has namely actually a wider dynamic range) and in-camera noise reduction (swallows too many details). Although the camera has the function "Active D-Lighting" to compensate for high contrast, but I find the results rather than rushing intoxicating. In addition to excessive noise in the highlighted areas, not quite true when the Active D-Lighting often there also the color. With DxO Optics Pro 9 I can to dark areas and bright areas without losing details subtly brighter or darker and without, in combination with the excellent PRIME-noise reduction to produce too much noise in these locations (brightened dark areas). In addition, there is no color distortion. If you compare the PRIME-noise reduction to a reasonable level one, the result is really handy noise-free images without significant details to lose and even in images that exceed the critical value of ISO 800 (noise here at P7700 with internal JPG processing in dark areas (the night sky) uncomfortable on the monitor). I also use the software for processing JPG images (old own out-of-cam JPG or JPG of acquaintances) "saving" to take pictures of interesting subjects that are actually failed (incorrect white balance, too much contrast, too much saturation etc. ..). Again, the software does a good job, even from already veloren believed JPGs can often still achieve very respectable results. In short: best image development and post-processing software that I have ever had in my hand, operation is very intuitive, even for non-professionals quickly understand.
Addendum dated 16.05.15: Meanwhile, I've increased my equipment and Scan now mainly a Nikon D7100, but still use the P7700 when my DSLR is to Globig or too heavy for an occasion. My development workflow has now refined to the extent that I still basically with DxO Optics Pro 9.5 is developing RAW images and then in Adobe Lightroom 10, if necessary, further optimizations posh (z. B. the revision of individual image areas, which DxO Optics not going Pro unfortunately).
