First of anticipating, the Type Cover 2 also works with the surface1 RT, for those that can not quite place the name changes of Surface RT and Surface on. However, there may be problems that I describe here and I am writing to you how you can solve the problem.
----------------------------
Field report:
When putting on there were problems, the Type Cover has not been fully recognized. The RT tried the driver update but does not find the right and the Type Cover is not fully functional acknowledged. The TypeCover2 is illuminated and there will only a few keys such as volume / mute.
I had then tried to update on the desktop interface so manually via driver, uninstall, reinstall, troubleshooting, etc. - but there was always the DTC 18th
On the support website, there were some problem solutions but they were not the cause. Then I called the Microsoft Support, there we were told that it was known of the error and you must currently perform a system refresh. These can be found at RT Windows Update, restore, - the first function - system refresh.
Here all the updates and firmwares are undone and the user loses its apps, but - as long as they are purchased in the Microsoft Download ID list exist, so of course you do not have to pay twice his purchased apps.
However, there are also known to those apps that are financed by advertising and the user can unlock a fee. This release via the app itself is of course not listed. The support staff said that of course MS will pay the costs in the case.
So down the refresher. After the first boot the first installation to have reloaded without any updates already worked Type Cover 2 for surface1 RT at the login screen, I was able to enter my password to the TypeCover2.
Edit: My Apps were not going away, they remained after the system refresh.
For product: I Love My Type Cover, however, I find it a bit pricey.
