Dieter Falk has had incredible success in recent decades as a producer. Not only that, he has produced Pur to the great times, but he has had almost always some song or an album in the charts over more than a decade.
That Dieter Falk had already out solo plates, few people know. However, my two discs of 15 years ago are still very aware. Both CDs messengers known chorales in the current pop sound and at that time were more than remarkable sales success. As both plates are came out at a Indy label, but they have never found their way into the charts.
Now Dieter Falk comes back with a chorale-drive on the market. The time-honored songs are lyrically all (except for "Now thank we all our God", which is only but a bonus track and a reminiscence of Falk at his own 15 years of lying creation) of Paul Gerhardt. The songs are probably sometime run each in our country before on the road.
Unlike his old plates Falk has however changed completely here in the sound. Sounded his songs "time" yet to synth-pop (which I personally not so great found), then there is sound pearls in an acoustic pop robe where very delicate jazz elements incorporated, and where there is both upbeat and soft sounds are heard. "Norah Jones on instrumental" might be a more appropriate term.
The highlight of the disc is that the songs were all recorded "live in the studio". In other words, all the musicians were together and at the same time in the studio, the songs have played together, while each instrument was recorded separately.
