Hans Zimmer has finally set to music with "Man of Steel" a big action blockbuster. Of course, fears of parallels to the Nolan- "Batman" trilogy are undeniable, after all, Nolan also worked on "Superman" -reboot, so it's not unlikely that room came to the film by him. But one by one: "Man of Steel" was a big disappointment, boring and a typical thunderstorm effects, only the music convinced me. And now on CD, detached from the rigid frames, the whole charm of the soundtrack developed.
But straight away, who does not like music room, which is also here again hear any interpretation of him, "Man of Steel" is indeed basically a typical score, but still has something of your own.
CD 1 (also called "Flight") has here the music on the normal soundtrack (Single Disc) can be found.
Room brings us here, of course, the new Superman theme, with small bond to John Williams' masterpiece. The issue here is clearly melancholic and set over how it was to be expected in the trailers also, just because of the mood of the film. Nevertheless, I find it very well, it has something, especially when you hear it more often, but that goes for the soundtrack itself also. The theme has a nice design and then shows in its faster passages his strength, while confident in the quieter moments with its simple, yet effective piano version.
But my favorite is the dramatic, evil motive to General Zod, which can be found primarily on the second CD. On CD 1 is "terraforming" probably the best title for this, as well as a highlight in the music!
Also Krypton gets a nice theme missed, especially his downfall is accompanied with massive choirs.
The soundtrack, however, is in my eyes with CD 2 even more intense, the just mentioned "General Zod" is a great piece, as well as the wonderful "Earth" and the interesting "This Is Madness!", Which is in all Drums and Percussion , On top there's the half-hour "Man Of Steel (Hans' original Sketchbook)", a terrific cross-section from the soundtrack, especially the main theme shines in its splendor in the second half.
Unlike many other rooms soundtracks that have appeared lately and mostly totally dismembered were (In "The Dark Knight Rises" had to be three tracks from three different sources relate, because they were not on the original soundtrack on it) , provides the deluxe edition of "Man of Steel" about two hours (!) of great music, similar to the Complete Score Williams' "Superman" soundtrack. Therefore, I absolutely recommend to get this double CD, it's worth it!
Conclusion: Well, as I said, it's a simple room first score, but who, like me, always happy will be charmed by his big, epic and powerful sounds, which can grab without concern for me is "Man Of Steel "almost a serious competition for the" Dark Knight "-Trilogy I also appreciate very much. Bin therefore more tense on the next film or soundtrack, if Superman and Batman meet then ...
