After her 2012er tribute to Nina Simone Meshell N'Degeocello is back - with a jewel on new songs. Not so introverted as "Weather", but not as spacey raptured (á la "Comfort Woman") as suggested by the album title, album Curves skilfully stylistically around between Soul, R'n'B, pop and reggae. None of the 13 songs that Höhrerohr can elude easy to smooth and well-designed, these. Well, okay, maybe with the exception of the title track, a cover of refreshingly raw Whodini's "Friends" - with joy you hear Meshell also rapping again .... in the midst of the other songs depends "Friends" a little appendix equal to the rest of the album it - not without to please!
But overall - with highlights like "folie à deux", "Conviction", "Tom" - a strong sign of life of a truly sovereign soul.
