The camera takes good photos for a compact camera. I do for a living, many architects and interior shots, but I am not a photographer. I have decided after intensive research (Internet and magazines) for Sony RX100 me because I wanted a small compact camera with good image quality and settings. My requirements are met, the Sony RX100, when the hum would not.
But the good image quality is useful to me when I can not Sony RX100 used neither in peaceful surroundings yet for video recording because of the hum.
Since the sound for a camera in this price range is not acceptable, I rate it with two stars.
The Sony RX100 I bought for 400 euros at Amazon about 2 months ago. Since I have four more digital cameras, I have Sony RX100 used only for testing (approximately 400 images only in the apartment). I also bought the manual of Martin Vieten it.
Maybe someone can help me. Or do I have this camera better return? If the camera while Amazon newly replaced or repaired? I have as yet no experience with technical defects in items that I bought at Amazon. Thanks in advance.

I have just watched the YouTube video "[...]" of "Jens B", exactly the same hum noise! Just immediately after switch on, as if I had created the video itself.

Since 05:05:14 I got a new replacement unit, although the 30 day return period is over already.
Amazon offered me very friendly three options:
1. Money back
2. a new replacement unit, which I at any time may also return
3. Purchase price reduction (which would sinnfrei the defective unit)
Since I chose the camera after a long search and still regarded as the "right" camera for me think I have decided for the variant 2. Of course, with some concern that the 2nd camera has no defect or error.
So far I have the new camera underused (lack of time), so I could not tell sound or review whether or not the camera the same or another defect.
About the very good picture quality for me there is no doubt (if it is working properly). There is also in this regard here sufficiently detailed reviews. My review is mainly to help customers who have a similar problem.
The Amazon Associate on the phone was very friendly and really has always given me the feeling that Amazon really does everything, so I'm happy as a customer.
But kudos and thanks to Amazon !!!
