The GPS receiver is small, handy and robust. The cable is long enough. And really great: it has a GPS link within a few seconds and it is very responsive and there's also receives data, which give up other devices already. So technology is good. The drivers for Windows 7 (32 and 64 Bit), however, is a total disaster: There are in addition to the supplied drivers of Hama, in various places on the Internet several versions of the driver. And there are many instructions and tips for optimizing the settings of virtual serial ports via USB. I have for weeks daily spent some time try out all combinations. Sometimes liefs few hours, sometimes almost an entire day, sometimes just a few minutes. None of the variants is reliable. The operating system will eventually release the synchronization with the device and then gets usually in a state in which only a hard reset of the PC helps to connect the USB / COM ports later on. At first I thought that my receiver is a Monday model and I have not bought an identical with the same chipset: Identical problems. Under Linux, the receiver on the same device seems to work stable: For Linux there but not the special software that I need, unfortunately. I now suspect that the cause of the error, if the problem does not occur with all Windows 7 users (some reports of success), possibly on the Intel Atom netbook chipset is.
I use in the US for many years the Delorme Street Atlas in combination with a GPS receiver and a laptop for navigation. This year, I was glad that the phone I happened even a navigation device.
My conclusion: Unfortunately, the technically quite good thanks to the receiver is unusable Windows7 drivers (at least with Intel Atom chipsets) is currently not stable usable.
