1) MANUAL pointless and INCOMPLETE
The enclosed operating instructions for the targeted purpose (WLAN adapter to satellite receivers) completely pointless and more confusing. But also for another purpose (WLAN adapter to PC) is the guide not helpful. Grober downside to Technisat. If you already only a compatible WLAN adapter offering for quite higher-priced products 'Made in Germany', is a little more care could have stuck in the user manual (as well as in online support and documentation on the site; it is, for example, almost not possible to find out the exact product / chipset of the adapter; or as the befindlicher the adapter hardware button "Click WPS" is not documented).
2) CONNECTING & CONFIGURATION first PROBLEM - PROVIDED THAT NO atypical PROBLEMS.
Connecting and configuring the adapter to work first quite easy, as long as you a rudimentary familiar with technology or was smart enough to google the internet for explanatory video: Unpack adapter and connect the satellite receiver to the USB port - either directly or via extension cord. (For me, the signal strength of the network with the cable is better - probably due to more flexible set-up options for the antenna with the longer cable, maybe the cable also serves as an additional antenna ...). So far so good.
Then into the satellite receiver's menu (at TechniStar S3 ISIO: Menu> Settings> Features> Network - WLAN). There my home network is already displayed (super) and, surprisingly, with yellow signal strength. This antenna and router is only about 5m straight line and a wall (actually a glass door). No matter, I think. Selected network password is entered, ... no connection possible.
3) SEARCH FOR TROUBLE - in vain.
.... A) Dynamic and Static IP: Although Adapters & Receiver detect the network, never a connection is possible (neither 'Connect' nor 'Test'). Also review and amendment of the router settings allows no connection with the local WLAN network (router transmits next to the 802.11n standard in g and b; MAC address filter is disabled, SSID is visible => Information in accordance with the TechniSat products our FAQ).
.... B) In order to isolate the problem, I hang the wireless adapter to a PC: Here the connection works with the wireless network instantly and without problems and (subjectively) unimpaired connection speed. The adapter connects without problems - both in operation with the Windows driver as well as with the manufacturer drivers. The connection problem therefore seems to be on the side of the receiver. The firmware of the receiver, however, is up to date. Also at TechniSat is no older / different firmware version.
CONCLUSION: Installation theoretically relatively comfortable though lousy documented. But somewhere hangs a bug (possibly in satellite receiver) and interferes with the structure of the connection to the network. In this case, you're in a fix: There are neither comprehensive support guides on the part of Technisat, nor can one rely on the experience of other users, since a precisely identify the manufacturer Product name (this does not match the Technisat naming!) Is not possible.
Insults and Angered Davon pounding in the above-described process have expected to achieve only an emotional release on my side, but also not helped connect between a satellite receiver and wireless network produce.
Currently I am waiting for response from the Technisat-support, but am little hopes.
SUPPLEMENTARY 09/06/2014
The Technisat support was a maximum unhelpful. There you only get the information that can be found online anyway. Very weak.
Following the recommendation of reviewers here, I have my TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router, NE03155 risen ([...]). This device I have switched on the PC according to the very good instructions on client operating, appended to the TechiStar receiver and it ran without any problems. Not only was the establishment and start-up easier, the device is also nearly 10 cheaper.
