Note: I do not like to be divided into Android, Windows or Apple-categories. Each customer uses the product, which he likes best, and the best benefits. I think it's even very good, there are various technical and operating system approaches here. But I also have to admit that the Xperia Z3 Compact is not only a feast for the eyes, but really a must have tablet is by its very nature almost slim. Without taking all the points in advance, I can say that it is a top Tablet (My current comparison iPad Air 1, iPad mini 1, Samsung Galaxy Tab S).
In fact, have already been essential to the point the previous reviews. I therefore want to appeal to those things that I have noticed so far here.
What I do not currently important (more impressions follow):
1. Super display - actually rich, intense colors, good lighting, so crisp, compelling contrast.
2. weight, handling and processing: it does not have to be anything entirely of aluminum, the rounded, relatively thin aluminum frame like very good, overall relatively easy and very flat to me; with protective sheath of thin character is retained. The Sony Xperia SGP612 Z3 Compact is also about 60g lighter and a whole even handier or narrower than the iPad Mini 3 (a little longer).
3. waterproof and dustproof up to 30 minutes and a depth of 1.50 m diving (photographs are available) - almost gg a killer feature various other tablets.. As a solid rain / moisture protection for me perfectly adequate.
4. The digital noise reduction is actually very pleasant and not just a gimmick. Who is listening to music or audio books z. B. with train rides, at bus stops, etc. regularly, will certainly appreciate when background noises are noticeably reduced! Otherwise, a great sound reproduction (also without background noise) on solid headphones. The built-in speakers are by design of course no real bass and no audiophile, but you can definitely hear loud.
5. The built-in 8-megapixel camera is, of course, can not compete with my Sony DSC-RX100 III :-) The two built-in cameras are unfortunately only average. Here at the current tablet has tended apple ahead. But I shoot also rather rare with the tablet, with good lighting conditions, the photos turn ok
6. Compared to another iOS operating concept, who knows corresponding smartphones, find your way quickly. Good compatible (in particular) to other Sony products, eg SmartWatch. However, this also works with other current Android tablets. Meanwhile, there are also also here a huge selection of apps, games, etc.
7. Google account required and for Sony service course compulsory even with Sony, if only to access their stores to. On the other hand you have at Apple also somehow get to the Apps & Co. on the Apple Store. So now I have also access to a huge range, many important apps I already know, others are new and interesting, some great apps are available at Apple did not by the way!
8. No fingerprint scanner: this I do not use in apple and see it so far also not a disadvantage to (I really know where this data ultimately end up?) - Safety First fortunately different, not everything is possible, must are in my opinion also used.
9. The fleet makes work fun so far - an objective I set the Xperia Z3 Compact on the similar level as the iPad mini, especially since the iPad Mini 3 nothing substantial has been improved (the same A7 chip as its predecessor), but significantly more expensive than the predecessor iPad mini. 2
10. memory problems and low extensible: I'll upgrade here once 32GB - which can in "apple" actually only dream!
11. Also a USB port will not find it with apple (this does not match well, for safety reasons the company philosophy)
12. With PS4 Remote Play can be from the PS4 console switch to the tablet and the game for example, continue in another room -. I can not use this function unfortunately currently, because I still have the old PS3.
13. Sustainability: Google Android 4.4 (KitKat) sounding good - but who knows how long the Xperia Z3 Compact the next (n) can play versions of Android? Here I am spoiled by Apple, since current devices yet received updated versions several years. But an update to the new version of Android 5.0 to follow, at least early 2015.
14. The battery life is of course use pending but very convincing, maturities over 10 hours are possible loose! The battery power saving mode tickles out additional reserves and extend the operating time. Charging the battery again takes several hours ...
15 Another note for display: date absolutely no pixel failure (either in color or total).
16 A for Apple customers important point for me is so far however been listed anywhere: security. In case of appropriate use can smile as apple Tickets Trojans & Co., but malware and a hitherto small number of viruses are nevertheless real. Therefore, it was a duty to look after 1st sustained complete security program for me quickly so that I can (relatively) surf undisturbed and try apps.
17. The issue of "rights" in Apps surprised me but somehow and discourages some from enormous: I do not know Apple as costs and partly during the installation a little overcome. Therefore, one should preferably use only reputable Apps.
18. The establishment of the Quick Start Guide Tablets succeed by the way good, even beginners should deal with it, otherwise please refer to the Sony Support.
Priced 32GB entirely appropriate. In fact, I liked the Xperia Z3 Compact when unpacking and turning on immediately; Theme Packaging: Unpacking at an apple is of course a bit more exciting, but here much was also environmentally done right, everything has arrived intact and unharmed with me, so be it.
I must admit that the Xperia Z3 Compact is a fine tablet, at least on par with the current iPad mini 3, additionally scores Sony also with the simple and low-cost memory expansion, a (mini) USB port and the water and dustproof. The software upgrades to future versions of Android, however, is possibly questionable (at least version 5.0 to 2015 but for the Xperia Z3 Compact come). Who the Apple brand does not like anyway, or Android for other reasons are the preference, making the purchase can not go wrong - total earned (scarce) 5 points.
