The card requires a PCI Express 2.0 slot. This must be at least tied with x4.
It should be noted that the first PCIe 2.0 x 16 slot is usually down set to x8. This
but depends on the motherboard used. (Sacrificing graphics performance lay in test according to Internet and
Trade press at about 3% and are therefore neglecting completely. Possibly This is in graphics cards coming
Generations differently.
Mounting / installation:
First, the card should be inserted, but remain unchanged the rest of the configuration.
On the next start the motherboard BIOS should start normally. After the drive query, the system determines the expansion card and the Marvell - BIOS starts. This tells you if a 2.5 Gb / s or 5 Gb / s connection is available and whether devices are connected. After the motherboard invites - BIOS over. Thus, it is of course also possible to select the devices connected to the card media as boot media in the BIOS.
Windwos 7 immediately detects the card and installs the drivers (USB and SATA).
Now shut down the PC and connect the system drive on the U3S6, change the BIOS boot options and is already running the system again (the drivers were indeed by the previous plugging installed). Please note any change of Laufwerksbezeichungen if eg the swap file was moved to another drive, etc.
The audited data rates in the benchmark climb with my Crucial 300 128 Gb of about 275 MB / s to 350 MB / s (read). USB3 I can not test.
Problems:
I had bought a U3S6 spot in the local computer store.
Installed card (neither HD nor connected SSD) Windows briefly freezes the color flag movement "of the logo, then on, then BSOD. Map out, installed drivers, card back inside. Flags hakeln briefly, then start Windows by. Card was allegedly recognized but neither HD nor SSD are detected. A boot on the map is not possible. card exchanged! When the second card is exactly the same behavior.
According to research on the net I just wanted to do a firmware update ... After about 4 hours tinkering I let it go and ordered me here a new card.
My guess is that the 2 cards from the dealer were a bit dated and did not have current firmware. In the third map (optically exactly the same with the other two) then it worked straight away ...
Criticism:
A firmware update should be able to have simple to perform. On the Asusseite I've found to nothing. On the net I was on a French side then indeed find it, got it but still not back.
Remarks:
The startup of the PC is the Marvell BIOS by approximately 5 - extends 10 seconds.
The card is very fast (remember ventilation) quite warm
The included SATA III cables are quite short with a straight and an angled connector.
