Versatile, great sound

The E5 has a number of interesting features. Operated stationary it can be used as high-quality sound card to your notebook or PC by being connected via USB. It surpasses the usual onboard sound chips enormously and improves the sound also for lay clearly audible. At very reasonable PC's however, it may cause interference if the USB port poor quality HAT which is found occasionally in front panels. Then it comes to noise, the solution is then to plug directly to the motherboard. But is not a problem of E5 but would happen with all external USB sound cards. I knew the problem already from other USB sound cards such as Behringer and was not surprised. Deducting's it then also of course not in the evaluation.

The E5 can but a lot more. It contains a battery, so it is also mobile usable and that makes him both for recording and for playing interesting, mainly because great headphones are just Hipp in public transport. The E5 has a headphone amplifier which is suitable to drive two headphones (very romantic if you can in the web with boyfriend / girlfriend share the music), but above all you can operate it hifi and studio headphones with high internal resistance and low efficiency.

I have tried this with one of the most difficult to be operated headphones ever, a AKG K340 (not the newer in-ear with the same model number) as that is a KH from the 80s with a combination of normal loudspeaker and electro acts, with more 800 600 Ohm (which is already very much applies) and very low efficiency, for great sound if you have an amplifier delivers enough power.

He needs a lot of steam in order to sound good and the E5 provided the required high performance readily. In the headphones you notice a lack of power of the amplifier immediately, it then lost the space and the separation immediately. The sound is very good at E5, although 8 hours of battery life were not quite reached. Possibly changes which after repeated discharging and recharging, modern batteries build full capacity only after several chargings on.

Good is also the possibility to stream with the E5, you can connect it to a pair of headphones and then wirelessly transfer music from eg mobile phone or alternatively connect powered speakers and simply play music from your mobile phone anywhere in the room. I used to date for the purpose of a small unit of armature which makes the E5 but just as good.

The many features and the intended use as a mobile device have an impact on the construction and design, and has also Nachteile- the E5 is not super light and not super small, because of the battery. So you already drags a Taschenbeuler rum with him. But but you get a very versatile audiophile device with a lot of features that allows excellent sound and with which you can operate high-quality headphones mobile. I like the E5 very good. The price is reasonable, in my view, if not exactly low.
