My old clock is also a Citizen Promaster and over 11 years old (identified in the warranty card that still a stamp with the name 19XX years has). So was time for something new ... ;-)
Also I used to often worn Casio watches with digital display and all possible functions (altimeter, barometer, etc.). But in this age, I'm out. I needed a stylish, timeless clock that I can wear (mostly for work in the office) on all occasions.
And that's what this Citizen clock - the latest model in the Promaster series! Very reliable and a loyal everyday companion.
OPTICS
The optic is in my opinion very consistent. The shiny silver stainless steel bracelet is in perfect harmony with the dark designed dial. The design is kept very simple, so you can easily read the time. The CITIZEN-inscription and the famous Eco-Drive function located on a black, honeycomb-like ball. This ball is surrounded by a pearlescent glossy black ring changes color depending on the light. In dark places, the dial is almost jet black, in brighter environments the other hand, black-grayish shiny. The marks are surrounded by a shiny frame. The date is very readable on the 3-clock position.
OPERATION
The service is - if you have understood the principle only once - very simple. I've already looked at the interactive video on this clock on the offiziellenb Citizen website in advance. Here, the operation is very well explained. But the description is easily understandable. It is important that you know what time zone you're in. Germany is at UTC + 1. Thus, the time zone must be set to Paris (to be seen from UTC markings 0, +1, etc. below the respective city name). Is the correct time zone is set, the clock will automatically search in the morning at 2:00 clock, the radio signal from the stored time zone transmitter. If unsuccessful signal again at 3:00 clock and 4:00 clock. Pressing the lower right button, the last radio reception can be checked. For this serves the left indicator on the clock. The second hand shows "OK" for successful reception, the "NO" for failed reception and "RX" when the clock starts with the radio signal adjustment. The lower right display is used to display the DST. The radio receiver can also be started manually at any time.
Very easy is also the fast clock and date displays a different city. Simply pull out the crown, and let the seconds hand by turning the crown to the appropriate city.
The luminescent hands and markers make it easier to read at night, but rapidly lose luminosity.
PROCESSING
The processing is very high. Super is the sapphire glass protects against scratches and the clock for years (of course, with appropriate care) can shine. However, the shiny stainless steel bracelet links are in scratch-prone. The second hand hits the marks off-center but on the edge, so easily displaced. This can be seen very well from the pictures. Here I have made inquiries and I several models of this clock viewed in department stores - with the same result. So apparently affects the entire series and is lt opinion of Citizen for a quartz movement also otherwise very difficult to achieve. "It is very difficult for a quartz watch to set the second hand so that this exact jumps in all positions of the dial on the pitch. For our production a tolerance of +/- 1/3 minute track is given. "
CONCLUSION
Very noble clock that is completely reliable (it is 100% accurate, could no deviation compared to my other Wandfunkuhr notice). I can only recommend this clock. For the price you get a lot of (stainless steel, sapphire glass, Eco-Drive, radio signal from Germany, USA, Japan, China). Only negative points are a little too weak luminosity and slightly offset second hand. That's what I did Mir me but now accustomed to this is alas only noticed because I am perhaps a bit too perfectionist in this regard ;-)
Who is looking for a reliable radio clock that looks chic and moreover does not require batteries, which should access here!
