INITIAL CONTACT
The Sniper Strap is nice and light, looks well made and the shoulder pads are wide and soft enough.
The screw fixed to the belt has a ball bearing, to facilitate screwing
and the screwed-on camera / lens to provide sufficient freedom of movement.
Although the shock absorbers dampen slightly if this is really useful or just a nice gimmick, I can still
not judge. The sewn-steel cable to impede theft and actually gives a slight feeling
security. Sun Sniper even provides insurance cover in case of destruction of the belt, the insurance value
However, just at 400, which is not even enough for my body, let alone for the lens,
but it is the good will that counts.
SUN SNIPER OR Blackrapid
Both belts operate basically the same and include but on some individual peculiarities, which I here
will briefly.
Both straps are attached by screw to the tripod socket of the camera or the lens, the Sniper
firmly attached to the belt, the Black Rapid can also be switched on and unhooked rapidly over a carabiner.
Both have their charm, the carabiner offers even more flexibility, but there is a danger that the mobile
Parts could leave marks on the housing in the long run by constant beating.
In both belts, the length can be adjusted, with the Sniper Strap I find the length adjustment slightly
comfortable, but the right length is once found, are both set quickly.
Unlike Blackrapid the Sun Sniper has an integrated attachment steel cable and a shock absorber,
the Blackrapid scores highest with a small pocket on the shoulder pads and two adjustable stoppers on belt.
Priced both belts move at a similar level and we are already talking about the main point of criticism.
I hold both belts for overpriced, so I hesitated even long with the purchase.
However, I would not screw on a low-cost China-belt and a total loss of my most valuable lens
risk, as an alternative, one could still low even tinker a corresponding belt according to your wishes,
for me, however, the confidence is missing in my craftsmanship. ;-)
Ultimately, I decided for the SniperStrap. This was mainly due to the comfort.
Although both straps are comfortable, however, I slipped the Blackrapid the repeated up and slimming
the camera repeatedly to his neck and scrapes there unpleasant on the skin.
Without this disadvantage my decision would be considerably more difficult for. ;-)
THE SNIPER STARP IN PRACTICE
Its practicality should the Sniper Strap equate at an airshow demonstrated.
On my annual plan, there is hardly an event, the material and claimed myself harder.
The fighting weight of screwed lens incl Body:. 2.4 kg.
Permanent recording of the camera from the hip, after a few "shots" again "by subject" in position,
in between every now and then take up to quickly check the final images to blur.
When I read freely dangling from the hip the camera, has repeatedly stalked me a queasy feeling.
Fear that the screw is loose and I could not react fast enough before the lens at the bottom
dissolves into its component parts - horror scenario.
I carry the camera by the way on the left side, because I so feel comfortable in either hand
and can take up.
Conclusion after 7 hours (with interruptions) and about 500 photos:
The comfort can also after a long day little to be desired, no pain and only slight
Tension, but I'm not a bodybuilder. ;-)
The bolt slides very smoothly up and down on the belt, the shoulder pad remained with a few exceptions
where it is, only occasionally the belt is slipped me something forward or backward.
I have every now and again checked the fit of the screw on the lens, but my fears
were in vain. The connection sat bombproof until recently.
Ordeal with flying colors - two thumbs up!
CONCLUSION
When a lens is more than twice as heavy as the camera body, I hang my whole
no longer around the neck. The burden on the bayonet would be too high.
Carrying around also falls flat, because 2.4 kg are quite heavy with time.
The Sniper Strap solves this problem in a comfortable manner. The functionality of the
Shoulder strap deserves the full score. However, I find the price a bit too high,
why after much back and forth a star of the final grade may depart.
Nevertheless, there is of me a clear recommendation and still very good 4 of 5 stars.
