The story is well told in the first person so that you are immersed in thoughts, anxieties, questions of narrator. She has amnesia from an extremely violent attack. It was held spellbound by the discovery over the memories of flanges pages. Nevertheless, the author has "forced" on the sordid side of life of its heroine, including the scene of aggression. This book made me uncomfortable and I do not think it would have lost interest if the story had been less violent.
