As for the ASUS USB-AC56 that looks seemingly a great product very good quality workmanship! It does not hold true.
Bought to have very good speed wifi 5G (on USB 3) to transfer files from a NAS fast ... AND MUCH IS MISSED !!! The 2.4G is as fast see more!
Configure and test equipment: Livebox play, router ASUS RT-AC68U, Synology DS1513 + NAS with 5 WD RED 4TO raid 5 disks, APC UPS Pro 900 ..the tested everything on two PCs running Windows 7 (one with the USB 3 and the other for USB 2, but the problem does not come from there)
WiFi in Liveboox and disabled and AC68U router is barely 2 meters USB-AC56! I performed tests on several distances from 30cm to over 8m results are the same!
To transfer video files (about 1GB to 3GB - also tested with folders photos 1GB) in the direction: NAS server Router AC68U Adapter USB-AC56 PC Windows 7 on SSD ... The air flow rates more than reasonable 50 to 60 MB / s for the 5G and 10MB / s for 2.4G ... everything is ok!
The plot thickens or it is for sending files (always the same) to the NAS from PC (Asus USB-AC56 is the transmitter TX) 2.4G transfer looks okay 10/12 MB / s BUT ... I fall 5G 8MB / s see 3MB / s !!!!!!
The only time where I could get good rates (45MB / s) to show with 5G USB-AC56 is when he had just BE installed in a few minutes and some files transferred on rates drop to 3MB / s! Could not increase even play with the parameters proposed summary! (I specify that the problem is the same on both test PCs)
After some research on the web I could see that other similar cases were arrived!
For example here: [...]
I am expecting tips (configuration) if someone a solution, an exchange product if defective or proper update utility and driver from Asus!
For now I'll find Asus PCE-AC68 way to other transfer tests to adequately advance 5G WiFi!
... 5 stars arrive when a solution will be found!
Thank you for taking the time oReview the problem! =).
