The H14R.2 I feel as though a costly (about 100 EUR), but "the price values" lamp. It is well thought out in some points and is with me, inter alia, in the winter almost daily use as a supplement to my bicycle headlamp, I radele a good deal through the dark forest. In the darkest setting is already about as bright as my LED Bicycle Front Lamp (bought in 2013 for EUR 25). So you can be in very dark conditions is not good to use as a discrete reading light, plus it is too light already in the darkest setting. With raindrops falling a slight strobing can be when driving fast perceive. Normally bothers me every flickering, here it goes okay in the clearest case. Useful is the very clean processed sliding zoom lens of two nested metal cylinders. So you can focus the beam as much or narrow that the desired area is illuminated. The Dimmweg rotary wheel at the back is a bit long, but okay and even with gloves on the bike easily clean to use. When you reach the darkest or the brightest setting, the lamp flickers briefly, even useful. Very good stable battery compartment, either the supplied battery pack (2 x 18650 3.7V Li-battery lead out of center pole) receives and is able to load this with the supplied standard USB power adapter, or two single 18650 / 3.7V Li batteries or four AA batteries or rechargeable batteries (1.2 / 1.5V) receives, which unfortunately can not be loaded in the tray, however. The standard USB charging socket is covered during operation by a rubber seal. Also useful: a pressure on the jog dial on the battery compartment / mind turns on the red rear light when you turn off the headlamp, the switch also the tail light with out - pretty awesome; how many times I've forgotten to turn off the back light! In the tail lamp and a green LED that lights up when charging is complete is.
For transportation in the backpack to disable the lamp by an 8-second press on the main switch, the same for unlocking (in the manual is the wrong, no idea how that happens). The turbo mode can be activated for 2 seconds pressing the main switch, the lamp lights for about 1-2 minutes at full power. To get an idea, which is very useful, I think it's somewhat misleading to advertise with this 850 lumen. Just to make it clear: the lamp is really bright even without Turbo, be claimed 350 lumens, which is credible.
Very nice that the usually so annoying flashing mode was hidden behind a special setting and therefore can not be accidentally dialed. Very useful also select if you order the 1/3 brightness prefer - full brightness - from full brightness or - 1/3 brightness - would like to have, since 1/3 brightness is completely sufficient for cycling already (on full brightness there then the aforementioned Turbo Mode). The supplied extension cable allows to carry the battery pack in the jacket, if you want to load the head less. The weight, however, I find ok with battery pack on head.
Wishes for a next version / criticisms: - Advanced dimming in the lower part, so that one could use even at night in the tent to read the light, without disturbing the neighbors. A dimmable LED red additional front would also be nice. - Finer detent in the height adjustment, depending on the angle of inclination of the end to choose, for example, between "plug in 2m" and "cone in 6m", but not "cone in 4m".. Not dramatically, but so far just not perfect. - Chargeability and AA batteries in the battery pack - that would be reason alone awesome because it would replace an extra charger.
