The Philips Saeco HD8857 Exprelia Evo stainless steel is manufactured in amazing high quality and fits due to its timeless design, virtually in every kitchen and just looks good. Also, the machine is not too large, but unfortunately at the expense of the size of the water tank with max. 1.5 Liter goes.
After setting the water hardness the Exprelia is completely ready for use as early as the factory settings. Nuances to taste and quantity of coffee to be ground or filter coffee, amount of water per cup, adjust the brewing temperature etc. need a bit of time and can due to the high amount of settings are explained here impossible conclusion. Unfortunately, there is a possibility to adjust the milk foam. But more on that later.
Service
All necessary for the operation and for cleaning areas can be achieved with little effort. The accompanying rich illustrated and comprehensive manual is a real help during commissioning and maintenance. That alone is a plus value. And if something is wrong, it is pointed out with meaningful messages on the LED screen.
The settings for the coffee, and the launch of a brewing process be done easily using a few buttons using a LED screen. At first I was afraid of having to take for later operation to offer free training course to complete. MM after completely useless. Operation is easy to learn, clear and simple. The best part is that at any Espressoart separate settings can be made. To ensure that all individual circumstances are covered.
Another thing to be careful. During the production of the milk foam is injected something (even as the true guidance). A retention of the cup during the brewing process is then not recommended. Luckily it is only a few splashes and quickly removed with a cloth.
Espresso and taste
For me and my family the types of espresso types offered are entirely sufficient. In addition to coffee still hot milk, milk froth and hot water can be produced separately, eg for tea.
Of particular interest to me is the production of latte macchiato and cappuccino. As already mentioned initially, no adjustment for milk froth can be made in the Exprelia. The milk foam produced has mE but just the right consistency. He is foamed creamy and an original Kaffeekeks (eg: coffee biscuits 200 St. individually wrapped) does not sink !!! If necessary, subsequently interspersed sugar needs about 30 seconds, until it has set in its entirety. That's just the way I like it. As milk only fresh milk with 3.5% fat was used (no longer lasting variant or UHT milk).
Taste is such a thing, and known to be very personal. Currently the Exprelia with (Melitta LaCrema coffee beans, 1000g), pure Arabica beans is supplied in thickness 3 of us. The Espresso produced is nice and creamy and I like the taste, my wife less. When making a cappuccino or latte the taste is however for both of us perfectly. Since my wife will probably have to look for your coffee a little more for other varieties ;-)
The Exprelia generated any case at a decent speed and a coffee machine usual volume, the desired product.
Maintenance and Cleaning
What for me has always represented an obstacle for a coffee machine, was the high cleaning and maintenance, in particular for the use of milk. When Exprelia Evo with separate milk container the cost is pleasingly low. The milk undergoes no longer the machine but only the milk container. The built-in cleaning operation can then be carried out automatically or controlled manually when removing the milk container. After removal of the containers is easy again finished in the refrigerator! This is an unlimited benefit for me.
The entire maintenance is not time consuming. The automatic cleaning of Exprelia can be done manually automatically when switching on the standby function or even on the clean button. During the cleaning process, only a small amount of water is consumed.
However, the weekly cleaning cycle for the brew unit and milk container are handmade (use no dishwasher!). Incl. Removing the brewing unit it took me a total of 20 minutes for a weekly cleaning. I think that's ridiculous, because most of the time is probably draufgegangen anyway just because of my nitpicking.
With a monthly cleaning a little more work is called for. As still parts of the brew group must actually be greased and I have to reckon with about 2 minutes more time for maintenance.
Joking aside. The time required for the cleaning time is ridiculous and I like to invest this time for a long-term trouble-free operation.
Power Consumption
The readings I have determined with the aid of an EM600 (not calibrated). In standby mode, the machine consumes between 0.1 and max. 0.2 watts. In the on state between 1.8 1.9 watts are drawn to water from a tap. These values are certainly described as very good. Less really is only by the on / off switch is used on the back of Exprelia. Values are Topp.
During the brewing process a consumption of max was. 1300 Watt measured. If we consider that a brewing process only a few seconds per cup required, which is a good value.
The Exprelia Evo gets me there's no deduction in touch. A very good coffee machine.
