[Delivery / accessories]
The Canon PowerShot SX50 HS Short comes with a manageable accessories: battery, battery charger, Quick Start Guide, two CDs with software and manual transfer, strap and lens cap. The strap I can certify good services, he is rubberized on the "inside", which reduces slipping on clothing - practical, especially when it is supported on a smooth jacket. The lens is permanently installed and is not changeable.
[Handling]
On the handling, thus gripping the concrete, which for me unusually large camera I had to get used to at first. Here one must first find a "handle", as the great device fits comfortably in your hand.
The first thing then but very positive notice: when the camera is turned on, it is in about one second, and thus ready for use at breathtaking speed - very convenient for snapshots. Before one should not forget to pick up the easy-to-use lens cap course ... (I speak from personal experience * cough *) This is even easy to operate with gloves - especially during the cold season very beneficial. But brings us even one of the few negative points that you can complain about: on the right side of the display is an accessible with the thumb wheel to scroll through photos for example, mounted within which are still more controls. These are very fiddly and also with narrow fingers difficult to operate (with the just described gloves in cold weather no chance!).
[Control panel and viewfinder]
The display has a very good resolution is pleasant to read and to bend or fold. As soon as one it collapses with the LCD side to the camera body (to protect it against damage) of the viewfinder is automatically activated in the can also display all displays.
[MENU]
The menus are quite catchy, once you have clicked through the one time or another. It do just as well for the more demanding user many options on, to let off steam: The camera offers such as aperture and shutter priority mode (you select aperture or shutter speed, the camera automatically optimizes then the respective counterpart), object tracking (to select an object to which Camera then permanently keeps the focus), ISO setting (sensitivity to light preset).
What can I say, I'm excited! Bottom line, the results, even under difficult lighting conditions, in my opinion great. What came out because of pictures, although I have not done more to push out the trigger, was awesome. Razor-sharp, color-rich, and in my view almost professional photos!
The zoom is madness, little details come out incredibly sharp. Even in places where I have previously hammer out due to the unfavorable lighting conditions never sharp images, this is no problem for the Canon. The built-in flash, it creates problems.
[FLASH]
A small negative point could perhaps be the lack of flash mode. The built-in flash is raised automatically, as soon as the situation requires it, but you will be prompted via display on the display to do it manually. I forget, unfortunately, frequently times and this means an extra - time-wasting - handle to the flash, then the focus is gone ...
In addition, the camera offers a mounting rail for an external flash - I have not, unfortunately, so can not report on it also. For my needs the built-in flash has so far always been sufficient.
[ZOOM]
As mentioned above, the zoom function is brilliant. Can be very convenient zooming via a rotary ring which surrounds the shutter button. Up to 50x optical, moreover in great quality using the internal software. It was impressive for me, which provides sharp results this stunning Zoom.
[Conclusion]
For me, perfect! - I am happy (and almost annoyed that I did not before investing in a more sophisticated camera ...)! Just as entry-level camera for those who have so far not rangetraut to the "big ones", the SX 50 HS is wonderfully suited. It is easy to use and if you want it, it makes vivid color and sharper pictures quasi by itself, but also the versiertere photographer will find a variety of settings. Even though I can not understand and / or use the functionality: but Thanks to this camera, I can now make a layman also very professional looking photos! I would say, therefore a worthwhile investment for just laity. A great camera that's fun!
