1. NiteCore NC i2
2. ThruNite universal charger for 2 batteries
3. Foxnovo F-2 2-Slots
The NiteCore NC i2 I had ordered, but sent back the next day for two reasons at once. First, the internal power supply has incredibly gefiept loud. The whistling was still a room to hear more. Second, when the NiteCore inserting the batteries is very hakelig and the batteries also hold not reliable in the unit.
The ThruNite universal charger for 2 batteries, I have not tested, because it is not here Availabilities are (only the version for 4 batteries) and me the charge current selection through contacts at the bottom of the charging compartment not very good like.
So I decided the Foxnovo F-2 2 slots to order. Have the unit for a while now been tested with different batteries and am really happy with this device.
The following batteries I have already loaded with the device now, while the various types (Li-ion and Ni-MH) are charged at the same time. In each clip the charging currents used:
- Fenix 18650 ARB-L2 lithium-ion battery 2600 mAh protected (500mA and 1000mA)
- NiteCore battery Li-Ion Type 14500 750 mAh protected (500mA)
- Sanyo Eneloop Ni-MH rechargeable batteries AA (500mA and 1000mA)
- Sanyo Eneloop Ni-MH batteries AAA (500mA)
- AmazonBasics preloaded Ni-MH rechargeable batteries AA (500mA and 1000mA)
- AmazonBasics preloaded Ni-MH batteries AAA (500mA)
In summary, I can make the following statements about my experiences with the charger:
- Very good mechanical processing of housing, display, buttons, power and charging contacts.
- Easy to read display with relatively accurate voltage display and good lighting.
- Install battery goes smoothly and they will also be held securely on the device.
- The power supply is external, can be easily replaced with noise or defect and does not cause additional heat in the device.
- Battery detection works properly with the batteries used by me.
- Reasonable charging currents for small and large batteries, which I as a user can choose himself (!). However, some may wish any other charging currents. For me, there are good compromises on charging time and battery compatibility.
- "Mixed Load" of Li-ion and NiMH without problems possible.
- All the tested batteries were loaded reliably with me and the charge termination worked.
- All batteries have been with me more than "lukewarm", even when using the high charging current. But please do not load AAA or 14500 batteries with 1000mA and then complain about thermal problems! Manual charging current selection also means responsibility for the user!
- The acoustic indication of the end of charging like with personal good, but like other nerves.
- Capacitance measurement might make sense, but not tested by me.
- Can be used together with Li-ion batteries as a power bank. I have also not been tested because not currently relevant for me.
One more thing about the instruction manual. The unit is relatively self-explanatory. A brief but rather poor instructions are printed on the back of the pack. If you give yourself some trouble, then the instruction is but understand completely. Those who do not manage, which should better refrain from dealing with Li-ion batteries (especially unprotected cells).
Conclusion: The charger fulfills my expectations fully and seems to be one of the best that is available on the market just me. Will it continue to use and report any problems.
Finally, I would like to say that this experience is not the version of the charger for four batteries is possibly transferable because in this by the greater number of charging bays also higher total currents may occur in the unit.
