The Minutes (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I admit that I knew Alison Monet previously only "All Cried Out". So I'm not a fan, the five stars are uncritically every album of his idol. I give this album, because it deserves five stars.

Guy Sigsworth is a great producer, this album sounds like a (still) better version of Alanis Morissette's "Flavours of Entanglement" from 2008 and Alison's voice and lyrics are great class.

The album starts quietly but firmly to the Straken Horizon Flame, that is a bit reminiscent of the mix of strings and beats on Björk's "Jóga". Here are two more five star songs - "Changeling" and "When I Was Your Girl" - both favorites of mine. Also among the highlights of the album I count "Right As Rain" and "A Place To Stay". The other songs that I can not enumerate all the clarity, but are by no means filler, but also very listenable numbers. I personally do not like only Filigree, but that's a matter of taste.

"The Minutes" is a great dark electro-pop album that definitely his money's worth. The production sounds very high-quality (ie no cheap synth sounds) and the lyrics are by no means behind the music. Worth buying.
