The upgrade to the TG-3 I wanted to especially, can fersteuern the camera to the iPhone because of the possibility. The zoom can bring an example closer to shy motives, but also allows for better Selfies and "group Selfies" :-)
I'm excited but by some other improvements:
- The A-GPS can also be updated via your smartphone (iPhone / Android) now, used to be a cramp - comes with the Olympus-App (OI.Track) now easily.
- In addition to the remote control, with the APP (OI.Share) a photo be taken directly to your phone (I have the each with an iPhone made, but going from a similarly good function of Android)
- The program selection wheel went in TG-2 hard to use, now can turn the wheel much easier, you do not slip so easily from - I can the TG 3 now easily operated with one hand.
- The zoom rocker is now virtually a lever and better serve underwater.
- The new microscope mode is compared with the Super Macro mode of the predecessor clearly improved again. With only a little practice, for example, flowers leave as photography, that one can recognize the individual pollen. Together with the transparency unit sees even what some lives in the carpet. And you can make high-resolution photos of them.
Whether the images are much better now, than that of TG-2 I can not say if indeed there are improvements at a high level (for a compact camera of this size), photos in low light succeed now but definitely better as accurate.
The operation under water is very good, the OLED display is brilliant and highly luminous.
The operation by tapping the sides of the housing (Optional activated) requires some practice, but then goes even when wearing gloves (When diving, ski driving, etc.)
The GPS takes its position very quickly, mainly because I can now always easily update the assisted GPS data.
The battery Li-90B and Li-92B predecessor match continues.
Conclusion:
Whether the upgrade is worthwhile, everyone must know yourself. I have it because want to have WiFi, but also the better microscope mode and no more pesky program wheel for me are huge pluses.
Anyone looking for a new Tough camera, this should definitely take the short list - The TG-2 I had tested the purchase against competitors from Nikon and Panasonic, and found that Olympus hinbekommt the best overall package here - This time I wanted only improved TG-2, and I took that instead.
