For printer:
The printer is unpacked, set up and decorated within not even 30 minutes. All transit bolts are clearly visible and easy to remove. At the end of the device again to install a firmware update within ~ 5-10 minutes and everything is super.
I bought my unit, because it has a duplex ADF scanning device and a network port. My cycle is rather low. It goes with me to the digitizing / archiving my Korrespodenz. My review therefore has the scanning device as a focus. Caveat: This is good.
At 200 dpi, the printer for duplex scanning an A4 sheet takes about 32 seconds. Time stopped by pressing the "start button" to success message in the display. Larger "stack" may therefore require less time per sheet, but not much less than 30 seconds. For large catalogs so you need some time :-)
In scan mode, "Text & Image" at 200dpi (Save as PDF on SD card), the colors look a bit pale, but still graphics are clearly visible / evaluated and everything is sharp.
For the scanning of photos and the "renewed" Print this printer is not suitable. False color (red rather little orange, blue slightly purple, etc.) or pale colors are the norm.
The Epson can either scan on a local storage media (SD or USB), in the cloud or on a computer on the local network via WSD. A NAS can not be charged. But this is not very tragic, since the male end in the printer (not) the Aquatube be shared storage device on the network. Thus, for example, easily a big swing of documents scanned and then start the workstation and analyzed the scans and moves them to their destination.
The printer self-possessed no OCR (text recognition). This can probably carry only the EPSON software later for the PC.
Finally, again the little weaknesses:
- "Low" Scan speed in duplex mode
- Scan destination can be a NAS / network drive
- No creating searchable PDF's by the printer itself
Positives:
- Good P / L. Pure document scanners cost not less than 200 with fewer features
- Direct saving as PDF, "quasi" on the network
- Are scans with automatic feeder very grade (not wrong)
