this is my first review, I try as much as possible my opinion on the device display.
Ordered on Monday and delivered on Wednesday already received, as always, you can only praise Amazon for the quick delivery. I ordered the device through Amazon Warehouse, as the state gave Amazon "Used - Very Good" at. Since I have already made very positive experience with Amazon Warehouse, I took the risk. Except for a detached adhesive tape on the display and fingerprints at the touchpad, I found no Gesbrauchsspuren. So also here, everything was perfect.
The notebook comes in a relatively small, handy package, already here falls on the light weight. Unwrapped, removed power supply and plugged, turned on the notebook - finished. Off you go with the establishment of the pre-installed Windows 8.
Since I am professionally involved in the IT field, I possess here already about certain basic knowledge of Windows 8 - for me personally, this is still my first notebook with the new Windows operating system.
The decor is very well explained and should be entirely feasible even for laymen. After that, it is, however, over the course. I would like to not overly responsive to the operating system - but the new surface with tiles missing and the Start menu is certainly a clue to criticism. To what extent you arangiert thus and will be incorporated in order to show in the near future. A pity, I find that Acer only provides on its Internet page for Windows 8 drivers. An installation for Windows 7 is therefore considerably more difficult.
Now you can start right away. I have first of all busy the numerous programs that are installed on the notebook to delete. There is plenty of Acer installed software that you either do not need or should replace by better alternatives. The removal is effort and also annoying. In this regard, I am sure, spoiled by my previous laptop, an Apple Macbook.
Now I want to describe the notebook in more detail:
Housing:
The case is held in a very chic Alluminiumlook. The underside is made of black plastic. Positive surprised me the value. No too big gaps, no crunch or bouncy, as I had expected far worse. Of course, a notebook from a machined piece of aluminum (eg Macbook) is still high, but for the price you can, up to but rather compliant display, not complain. The hinges are tight for it still.
Display:
Certainly a big plus for this laptop, especially in the price range. The colors are good, the viewing angle is also above average. The resolution for the size of the unit is awesome (get the 13 "Macbook). Only the brightness should be a bit higher, but I would not rule out that I'm a bit spoiled by the glossy display of the Macbook Pro.
Keyboard and Mouse Pad:
Here is perhaps the biggest shortcoming of the notebook. Währrend the keyboard with pleasant stroke and good feeling confident (the backlight is okay - not too bright and not too dark, but only a brightness level) is the mouse pad so pretty under all. Due to the fact that there is no separate keys, no differentiation occurs. So it often happens that you right-click instead of left-click. Also scrolling with 2 fingers barely works. Here I've been to some extent disappointed, especially with Apple you can see how it is working properly. The mouse pad is relatively large, the bad touch sensitivity can be and use only a small part. Here truly is advisable - in conjunction with the built-in keyboard good - to use an external mouse.
Connections:
The connections are easily accessible. Particularly well solved the USB ports are on each side. The result - whether left or right handed - when you connect the mouse no cable clutter. Bravo! Otherwise, I am pleased with the separate HDMI port (the Macbook you had an adapter (Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI)).
Sound:
The sound should certainly not explicitly mention. On the bottom of the notebook 4 holes for the speakers are embedded. Standing on the table comes out as a very clear, well-balanced sound of. Here I was pleasantly surprised. However, if you like to sit on the couch or in bed and the notebook on the lap, gets a problem. Then the openings are in fact covered and sound coming muffled over. Thus, headphones are a must.
Now I would like to say something about the general feeling. I have ordered the notebook as a mobile replacement for my Macbook, which is pretty long in the tooth and met my applications only inadequate. I watch a lot of movies (Blu-Ray), surf the Internet and want to play with it from time to time.
The working speed is very good so far. Even when multiple applications are running, everything runs smoothly. Because the external graphic in Office, Media (mostly) and Internet is not used, you can not hear the fan also. That was also very important to me. Except for the occasional clicking of the hard disk the notebook is therefore absolutely whisper quiet. Only when playing the external GeForce turns with it and you can hear the fan - however very cautious. Even after 2-3 hours of game play, the fan ran never so loud that it was annoying - a slight hum and noise reason I consider with external GPU's for granted.
Soon I will build me a bigger hard drive (1-2TB) and an mSATA SSD. This can be done easily because a mSATA interface is already installed at the factory. Unpack - insert - get started. Before that, I'm going - Restoring nor the Windows 8 and then play again - due to the lack of recovery CD. By using the SSD also the performance of the notebook will increase again significantly, at the moment I consider the mechanical disk bottleneck of the overall performance of the notebook.
Finally - although this is certainly not the primary Verwenungszweck the notebook - I would like to point out that the notebook can also be used to play well. The display and the keypad (after a short) fell like I said good. I mainly play League of Legends, which at native resolution (1920x1080) is running on high details. Only the shadow will not run on very high. But here I go play it safe, because I want to have no loss of frame rate, especially in fighting. I will in the next few days also install something more current games (Tomb Raider and Grid 2) and test my review I will expand accordingly.
I hope I could give the buyers a little insight.
Finally, can for this laptop, especially in view of the price, give a strong buy recommendation. Very good quality, low price. Except for the poor touchpad that little wobbly display and the lack of Windows 7 support, I have nothing to complain about.
