Pro:
+ Super brilliant image reproduction, both for "normal" DVD and of course especially in the HD DVD playback
+ Simple operation and programming / Plug & Play via HDMI no problem
+ Attractive design and functional remote control
+ Upscaling brings the old DVD again head and shoulders in the scene (eg Star Wars 2 in Metoritenfeld acts so vividly, almost like a 3D image
+ Extremely low drive (as I had worse by Yahmaha and other companies normal DVD player)
+ Currently, great price, so you could pull this player as a "normal" into consideration
Cons:
- As so often described takes the boot a long time (which does not bother me personally), just load the DVD
- Pre-tilt during playback is too slow - it is better to directly select the menu chapter
- Layer change is noticeable, so that one has in the first paint afraid the player had crashed
- At pause the player does not switch on the screen saver mode (possibly incorrect setting on my part !?), which is in a plasma not as advantageous
- Readability of the remote control is rather poor and not really intuitive at least for me, so you must look carefully plan the more frequent
Soft Skills:
+ Because of the dying format, you can currently stock up very favorably with high-definition footage
+ Low starting price in the high-definition segment, in a technically high level
Conclusion:
For those who have not decided yet, surely an alternative to the overpriced BluRay players (no I do not verteufel this format and will certainly bring a me in a year or two) to get material also benefit from the new HD. Currently, you should just pay attention to the costs and later to change to the monopoly of Sony, because the player is certainly a few years afford his services and then you can possibly buy for a defect the HD-DVD again in BluRay, which then probably no 25, - and will cost more.
