From the network, I know that this plate and the "little" brother (320GB) are gladly recommended for above purpose, and for this it is suitable for different reasons - in conjunction with the above receiver - very well:
1. Straightforward installation / recognition, just plug the supplied USB cable, reveal drive, format and off you go.
2. No additional power source is required. The HDD is powered via the USB port of my receiver with sufficient power.
3. The access times are (for the not too full board) good, because there is nothing to complain about. Liquid operation is possible without any problems to me, movies are recorded and played back smoothly, even HD recording.
4. The compact black housing and the subtle green operating LED "disappear" the plate visually almost in the dark of the racks and interfere with the movie experience not / does not distract.
5. After a year quite intensive use (partly. Up to 3 shots / day), I have experienced no loss of data.
Of course - if you like me makes the HDD almost brimming recorded (up to 90%) and far from being a refresh, then it jerky at the beginning of the recordings a bit and it takes time, you can access up to shooting. This is then but not on the plate, but the technical principle and my usage, I know as I know all of HDDs, but they can nix. ;-) So of course no devaluation so.
