However, this had a new record player here. After some research, I chose the Audio Technica AT-LP120-USBC, also because I wanted to digitize some old treasures for years.
The AT-LP120-USBC came with the pickup AT95E. The unit comes with an instruction manual in English, French, Spanish and Russian. A German edition as a PDF download can be found on the manufacturer's site on the Internet.
The construction is carried out according to instructions within a few minutes, only the setting of the tonearm requires some patience. Since an ordered digital stylus balance has not yet arrived, was made the first adjustment without additional aids for guidance. Whether the thus adjusted coating weight is in the optimum, is remains to be seen.
The appliance is heavy, appears with value and is positioned firmly and safely. It features a USB port for connection to a computer as well as a permanently installed, 1 meter RCA cable. This length is, however, kind of annoying because - depending on the arrangement of the boxes - too short to achieve this, or too long, if an extension is being used. This could be one or the other users want to pull a star.
Currently the device from me without further amplifier having a pair is Reloop ADM-5 stereo speakers (active 2-way speaker system) operated. While humming easily when no music is played, but are otherwise excellent protection. The AT-LP120-USBC itself stands with me in a massive, heavy cabinet and not buzzing. The AT-LP120-USBC in conjunction with the AT95E pickups and the built-in preamp creates a really good sound in these boxes!
Since I know the device with the supplied pickup I can not judge whether other pickups would deliver better sound. For me, the present team will do just fine: creaks against my old memories, and appropriate expectations and crackles as nothing the sound is clean, clear and above all in all tested LPs significantly more dynamic than in the comparison among the respective MP3 downloads, which in each case at the LPs either as AutoRip (Amazon) or download link (other providers) were sold. In short, so music should sound; a real treat!
As my old device was a semi-automatic, is the fact that the AT-LP120-USBC is completely manually, even after a long abstinence turntable for me once some getting used to. My children, who do not know otherwise, have no problems.
Together with a E07K FiiO Andes and high-quality headphones makes me the AT-LP120-USBC also joy; at the moment about the line-in input of the FiiO. Whether the use of a DAC FiiO works via USB, I will report separately, currently I am still waiting for the delivery of a needed for this USB adapter.
Conclusion: the sound goes with the supplied cartridge is more than satisfactory and safe in this respect the best turntable I've bought so far. The shelf life can I understandably not (yet) judge. Currently for me a 100% buy recommendation!
