Well, the answers to my questions and some more I describe below ...
The Samsung Galaxy NX (hereinafter camera or NX) comes packed chic therefore that does seem a little excessive to smartphone. In addition comes a charging cable, a carrying bag.
The camera is as known from Samsung in the upmarket, very well made. The camera comes the classic 18-55mm lens, which even comes with other Samsung used. The lens is also well finished, made entirely of plastic, can be used well. However: no premium lens, which is probably already in the 4-digit price range.
At the first touch of the camera naturally falls on the gigantic, 4.8-inch display. For comparison, the display is significantly larger than that of an iPhone!
There is a efficient bead, so a handle, which ensures that the camera really can very well be in the hands at the right front of the NX.
On the top there is a thumbwheel that can be pressed, and a release button on the camera. Throw in the on / off button and the shutter button. That's it.
So: Micro SD card and insert your SIM card, charge device and going ... (!)
After the first start it will take some time until all the functions of the Android platform are available: first want Google, Dropbox etc. are linked. Whoever defends itself against the storage of private data should equal desist from this device - but that goes without well by itself. With Dropbox, there are equal times 50 GB for one year for free. Interestingly, it can be set that for an existing WLAN connection all photos are saved in the Dropbox. Very cool. Since no other handle is necessary.
The electronic viewfinder is a high resolution, bright and displays the image even when panning without streaks. Very good.
At my first photo session, I was with a few friends at HSV. The game was secondary for me, I wanted to test the camera. In addition to many portraits I also had the opportunity to shoot photos in wide angle and telephoto and pictures at good and bad light. So ideal test conditions.
The operation more or less exclusively on the very well-functioning touch screen make is initially quite used to. I already needed a mid-term intensive Gefummels on the camera until I had made me really know how to operate. With other cameras this is done after a few seconds. When I had, however, made friends with the display, everything went quickly out of hand. The camera, which I do not deny, however, can best be used in Auto mode. This is not only a) quasi ready immediately but is b) the right of the program selection generally. The image quality does at least no major demolition of the car mode.
The Android interface offers numerous setting options for the camera, it is a real pleasure. In addition, there are the usual PSAM modes. The individual gimmicks I will not go further, however, there are settings that have pleased me almost let aufjuchzen. Clear: with Android is there already a lot more than in a conventional Kamera.Neben the usual dog, cat, mouse modes can record "animated photo" (for example: child moves in the photo, the environment is frozen as a photo - very cool), merge multiple images into a moving and so on and immediately. So everything Spielkram - but very funny. And works exceptionally well. These functions are of course completely unnecessary for "serious" photographers.
The true potential of the cars on the road opens up the way only with an inserted SIM card. I had so equal (see above) to forward the opportunity, a few snapshots via email to my friend during HSV-game. Great fun. There is also the possibility to let go Show recommendations for good motives - on a map of Google. Well this is only conditionally interesting in Hamburg as a local guide for me, but I could use this function even when traveling through the BRD.
The many other Android features such as calendars, games etc. are indeed nice to have, frankly I reach for such functions but then the phone. In the S-Bahn, I was already regarded as a Batty when I surfed with the camera on the Internet. As then received an e-mail with a loud tinkle, I was fully considered weird ...
Again to the "actual" functions of a camera: The shutter speed is good but not outstanding. For me, on average. In low light the camera with the kit lens will then begin to have much to look. There is potential for improvement.
Image Quality
I have so few opportunities for comparison and have to say that the image quality or color, sharpness and noise performance of the NX is very good. The images are to ISO 1600 virtually noise-free, excellent image sharpness in good light. However, I also use a 30mm fixed focal length like that I would like to warmly recommend the inclined buyer. Is not expensive and worth it. Although the camera lost significantly on speed, the result compensated however.
The color seems to me made in the standard mode very well: natural color, not too colorful and not too pale. That's how it should be.
The built-in flash is sufficient for household use.
Naturally very strong battery life is based in how the display is used. I have got used to turn the unit off completely, if I do not use it a long time to keep the runtime as long as possible. After restarting, it can take a bit longer and the SIM PIN is re-enter, but I take that like in Kauf.Der battery with 4,360 mAh but already very generous and should provide plenty of power even with heavy use. I've seen in a camera system previously nearly as big and strong batteries. Because someone was real thoughts.
My Conclusion:
The camera is certainly not suitable for the classical photographer. To this end, the handling is to get used to. As a target group the NERDS offer said here probably more honest to - to whom I count myself, that's why it fits already. Nevertheless, I will, I by no means use all functions on the camera - who has been playing Angry Birds on his system camera !?
The image quality is excellent and is one of the system camera range ensure the best that is currently on the market (excl. Vollvormat that I can not compare, because I do not know them).
The price is high. A similar camera from their own home without Android is available for approximately EUR 300, - less.
Why Samsung is the very fair price of fixed focal lengths. There are now a good selection at comparatively low prices.
Whether one uses the advanced camera functions must each decide for themselves. The large display invites definitely a to and the operation is slightly out of hand.
The additional cost of a SIM card (in my case EUR 7.99 pM) should calculate with.
