very good image quality; very good "Universal Zoom"; Price ok

My equipment:

Sony alpha SLT 33 - SAL 3.5 - 5.6 / 16-105

Canon EOS 550D - Canon 4.0 / 70-200L IS; Canon 1.8 / 50; Tamron 2.8 / VC 17-50; Tamron 3.5-4-5 / 10-24

After I only with relatively light equipment'm traveling for 3 years, I had to reduce health vigorously the weight of my equipment, I am now landed next to Canon Sony. No Asrüstung weighs more as 2kg.

Thanks to a friendly photo dealer I could test some lenses and look at the pictures in the business equal to the PC. A very good service which he offers to other customers.
All objectives contained in the business focus in any area !!! - the Sigma EX 2.8-4.0 / 17-70 was tested
We tested the Sigma 3.8-5.6 / 18-125 DC HSM - too dull color reproduction, the photos are blurred, contrast and sharpness are not correct
The Tamron 2.8 / 17-50 was tested without stabilizer - extremely sharp over the entire area, to me personally, for as always with Sony camera to smaller area with 17-50
We tested the Tamron 3.5-6.3 / 18-250 - is just a so-called "Soup Zoom", the corresponding "creamy" are also the images, unbearably loud Focus drive
But the portrait lens on Sony cameras have been tested the Zeiss 3.5-4.5 / 16-80, which is minimal sharper in the imaging performance 16-80, but thanks to unique bokeh
We tested the Sony 3,5-5.6 / 16-105 - very good ZOOM lens, as it always the best of Sony cameras

Plus points:

+ Very good workmanship, feels very high quality and stable and it is also
+ Zoom ring and Focusierring are very good to use, precise setting possible, not too soft during rotation
+ Distortion at maximum aperture on my Sony alpha SLT 33 (APS-C) minimal perceptible (see Photo Rathaus Hamburg)
+ Distortion easily correctable with appropriate programs, it creates not so good in other lenses, which also recorded a lot more
+ Sharp throughout the zoom range even at maximum aperture, dimmed to a level very sharp (ideal aperture 5.6 - 11)
+ Colors are very natural reproduced
+ Very good detail reproduction that you have to look in comparison with other zoom lenses. The smallest details visible at Tamron / Sigma missing those fine details!
+ Landscape photos from the Guides table book
+ Portäts be imaged with very good skin tones and a nice bokeh - but here's the unbeatable Zeiss
+ Pet Photos, extremely sharp, very good detail reproduction
+ 16-105 (24 to 157.5 mm film to APS-C Sony cameras - crop factor 1.5) so now my only lens for my Sony Alpha 33
+ Comes with lens hood in typical Sony packaging
+ 40cm minimum focusing distance throughout the entire range
+ Lightweight zoom lens (470gr.) With an ideal zoom range for most situations
+ 3.5-5.6 perfectly adequate, the rest in low light conditions does the camera with your built-in stabilizer
+ Innenfocusierung so very suitable for filter cartridge (see photo marina)
+ Inclusive tulip-shaped Lens Hood
+ The price of this lens is not a bargain, but the performance is worth the price

Neutral:

* Minimal, normal for a push in the lowest part distortion at 16mm. (16 to about 100/18 to about 100) had Hab hardly a better push in the hands

Bad points:

- Not found

Conclusion

This lens had called minimum error on the front lens without affecting the picture.

Smears on the lens in the form of fingerprints - once wiped with special lens cleaning cloth and everything is gone!
