Packing
When unpacking the unit already gave me a very good impression, it was neatly packed as usual between 2 Styrofoam trays. The monitor itself is located in a foam / plastic sleeve.
Films were installed to protect over the glossy parts of the back, and lateral edges of the stand.
Overall impression
The monitor makes processing technology a high-quality impression, the stand teeters not the monitor is stable but can be adjusted (tilt) relatively easy. Verso is to run a cable clip on the monitor to the cables behind the stand. As well as on the product image, the monitor is switched off there with a very narrow margin of only about 2mm above the right and left. Below is a high-gloss bar with about 10mm width.
When switched on, however, an approximately 10 mm thick edge revealed around the monitor (advertising dizziness).
Service
It is operated using a joystick on the lower side of the monitor. It is very easy to make settings on the device. Only the PBP function (split screen) is a bit tricky. One must first PBP to activate can make to the appropriate settings.
Connections
The unit has 2 HDMI ports and a DisplayPort connector and a 3,5mm connection.
One of the two HDMI ports as well as the DP and jack are directed backwards, another HDMI directed to the right side. The 2 HDMI is located in a depression in the comfortably fits a Google Chrome Cast without HDMI Extention.
Audio
The unit that I got delivered, and for which I also write the review has no built-in speakers. The monitor has only loop through an audio switch to the audio output from the HDMI connector to the 3.5 mm jack. Audio source is selectable via the Monitor menu.
Image Quality
The monitor has an IPS panel and accordingly beautiful and viewing angle stable image.
The built in this monitor Edge Lit Hintergründbeleuchtung has almost no visible halos and no bleeding of the lighting in this regard I am very satisfied with this device.
Picture Format
As already mentioned is the aspect ratio 21: 9, it is a bit unusual but I would like to share my experience about the compatibility.
To watch DVDs without black bars is probably the most common reason, so go up a monitor. Forget it.
DVDs do not have the required cinemascope format.
They not only up and down but also left and right black bars, as the DVDs on 16: 9 are designed.
But there is Blue-Ray support the required format.
Even games supported only partially the aspect ratio. For assistance you can actually see more than on a 16: 9 monitor. Partial but requires the so-called tweaks in the Games (Aspect Ratio, among others).
Games that do not support the format stretch the image or there are unwanted black bars on either side of the full-screen game.
Also Youtube really does not support the 21: 9 format, at least has yet come to me no such video below.
Splitscreen
Here we come to the final point and a point of particularly bothers me about this device.
Although the split-screen function looks at the paper very good, but in reality the image of the two sources is compressed to fit on each half the width of the monitor. For me absolutely useless. Maybe it would work better if I had installed the included software LG, I will in this regard still insert feedback afterwards.
Update 5/11/2015:
By testing Amazon Prime Instant Video I've learned that some of the films for playback on 21: 9 monitors are designed (BSP Hulk, Fast and Furious 6.).
As mentioned in a comment you have to set the resolution of the sources to 1280x1080px with two sources for a clear picture of the split screen.
