Initially, this capability was perfect, even with a virtual machine from about 40 GB and photo databases of about 100 GO, besides my personal documents.
But since last September, the disc has become saturated to the point that I could no longer launch Lightroom!
Impossible for me to move files to an external drive, my databases are already generated previews.
So, I decided to invest in a new SSD. I did not want to put too much money in view of the age of my machine (two years) and the initial investment (1600).
This SSD of 480 GB (450 GB) showed the best capacity / GB price. The installation is very simple, just unscrew screws to open the Mac, a screw to remove and replace the SSD, then reassemble the whole operation takes about 20 minutes (the time to dust off the inside).
Next, an external housing, provided, to install the removed drive, and copy all its data: it's probably the longest this step, especially if you reinstall everything from scratch (j choices did it because Mac OS X had some strange behavior). In addition, the housing is very compact and very well made (including carrying pouch and USB cable 3 which are provided).
For a week of use, I do not notice any change in the overall speed of the disk, compared to the old (it is possible to activate the TRIM for even more closer to the speed of Apple DSS).
In summary, a purchase that I highly recommend if your SSD is just too much!
