First of fairly decent wide angle is mentioned, with 28 mm one gets full frame quite a bit on it, unlike APS-C. In my copy of the photos were sharp down to the corner. Little could be seen of chromatic incorrect drawings. The contrast is very high, hardly scattered light. Many cheap lenses have problems with internal lens reflections, also referred to Lens Flares, not as the SEL2870. Even if the sun is directly with the image, good contrasts are still achievable.
For full-frame lens is still pleasantly small and light. Manschen seem plastic not particularly liking to me comes the rubber and the warm touch feeling just right. For other lenses I can start, especially in winter with the cold metal bit. Therefore, the lens scratched not as fast, if you do not always packed in a bag.
Another advantage is the initial aperture of F / 3.5, which is sometimes less light. Glows in the dark, thanks to the compact lens size, even the AF Hiflslicht the Alpha 7 still on the lens hood over. From focusing it's sort ultra fast by the ultrasonic motor and supports the phase focus.
Pixel-level Sony Zeiss 24-70mm is certainly superior to 2-3 times the price. If you take a loss in sharpness in buying, of course you can ask the question, why not the same APS-C with the Sony Zeiss 16-70 mm? Here one saves money and weight, still gaining market share at Zoom Range.
We should also mention the wide price range at which the lens is sold. The charge from the body of the Alpha 7 for kit amounts to just about 150 EUR, depending on market conditions. The price for the standalone edition apparently fluctuates around 400 EUR. Therefore, one lens in the kit still takes perhaps more with, as it is independent now.
Conclusion: An all around successful lens when it should be a little easier. A place in the market has it then but barely, by the alternatives APS-C + SEL1670Z (lighter) and full frame + SEL2470Z (better image quality).
