First Impression:

The Olympus makes a very valued and robust. All components give me the impression that they can withstand the weather conditions and also are promised. Solely the weight of the camera falls a "directly into their own hands". Compared to the WG-2 is the TG-1 is a stone in his hand! Whether it thus becomes more robust, is another question. The supplied accessories will be good, but I would have liked a separate charger for the battery.

Unwrapped, charged memory card in and go! Equally and otherwise I expect it at a cam! The TG-1 makes this super confident and fully! In some "test reports" I let that the menu was designed too complicated, I have to disagree entirely, in my opinion, it is very well structured and you will find all functions quickly. In the WG-2, I had complained that the picture quality is to varying degrees, in the TG-1, however, this is constant to evaluate very good. Whatever modes is selected or what megapixel number, I was always very happy with the recordings. Even those with low light mastered the TG-1 with flying colors! Especially the sport mode or continuous shooting have fully convinced. The shutter speed of the TG-1 moves in the upper field and long wait from one to another recording, do not occur here!
CONCLUSION: Very good image quality, consistently good pictures and a lot of "freedom of expression".

The video quality was very satisfactory in the WG-2 without the zoom, were correspondingly high demands on the TG-1. This is fully complied with, but what is at the WG-2 Zoom and this resulted in quality, in the TG-1 is extremely disturbing sound of the zoom! Therefore only hold in noisy environments where you can not hear the zoom. Apart from the "Zoom" sound quality, even at maximum zoom is very good and can convince!
CONCLUSION: Great video quality, but annoying zoom noise!
Why no 5 Star ?:
-----------------------
Why I give this not Cam 5-star, although it is exactly what I was looking for? A point I have already mentioned, the zoom and the disturbing noise, for me are simply not acceptable in this price range. Another shortcoming is the weight in my eyes, because the Pentax WG-2 makes before that there is another way.
The real thorn in my eye is something else. Namely, the fact that the TG-1 no UHS-1 support. Since I have to ask, how can a manufacturer to bring out a completely new super device, then it does not support the new memory technology ?! To make the TG-1 shooting in Full HD, without that you can put away the Cam after recording for a time so that it works, you need a class 6 memory card. I made countless test runs with Class-4 and Class-6 and found out that only Class-6 is really suitable. But now times a still find a class 6 memory card in 16GB. I have scoured the entire network and become really happy I'm not!
CONCLUSION: Due to the above-mentioned shortcomings and non-support of Class 10 UHS-1 or there are only 4 star!

Holds I forgot it, I think it is frankly unacceptable that the camera is offered here on Amazon by local providers for 499, even though the camera a MSRP of 399 has!
