Very good player, I took off a star because of the quality of the screen, although the sound is excellent.

Possessor of two cowon D2 and D2 +, I hesitated with the M2, but I finally decided to X9 for the size of the screen more readable (yeah, I have more 20 or even 30 years :-) and tampering of the screen without my glasses on my D2 + is problematic ...: p). Received yesterday morning (less than 24 hours to receive a bled of Loire-Atlantique, thank you Amazon) starting without any problem, installing the firmware 2.12 downloaded from the global cowon website, or for those who do not want to read the English: [...] (as with any electronic gear in fact, the firmware update is needed: I find that very few people know this and that is a pity). Ergonomics is not that of my Asus Android smartphone, necessarily, but we go in without problem, as long as we make the effort to operate its neurons. Screen not terrible, as stated in other reviews, but not purchased either to crush videos, it is a little coaxing to stroll through the menus and submenus. The headset is not great either, it's even a stew, to be more clear, it is strongly advised to change it for the most audiophile products. Fortunately, I have some in reserve for a good listener, with various reports (Shure, Kef, Aurvana, JVC, Sennheiser, as intra circum aural: what to do).
My first approach is unsatisfactory price / sound quality / battery life largely in favor of Cowon. I would recommend this product to more familiar with the brand that noobs ...

The -:
- Touchscreen low resolution (480 x 272) that are more rotten. I do not understand the choice of Cowon because even for recycling, is to mock the brand aficionados customers. The contrast between the musical quality and the quality of the screen gives the impression that engineers have achieved over budget to design the device.
- 32 GB of memory, a bit over ... even if we can add a microSD 32GB, 64GB see (but I could not verify this) FLAC, memory is quickly filled.
That said, the HD player between 400 euros (8GB of space, misery, and 8:30 autonomy no kidding) and 5000 euros have a range of less than 15h in most cases a cooldown of 5 8 and a space from 32 to 64 GB on average, on the go, I never understood the value of such devices unless they climb little afford them but each his own.

The pros:
- Easy Access menu in my case, to be a little con-con or bad faith for not understanding the logos and logic handling.
- Fairly simple configuration: the logos are my explicit direction
- Excellent radio reception (which is not the case of general smartphone, as long as we do not live in the city: in this strike period of Radio France, listen to playlists of France-Inter or FIP is a treat).
- EXCELLENT musical quality on my plops my OGGs and my mp3, rendering is much better than on my D2 + andd2 My taste are electro pop rock and Cowon X9 adapts particularly well. The setting possibilities are endless: each helmet, adjusting Ditto for the music genres.
- Always on top JetEffect version 5, which has evolved since version 3.
- 110h of autonomy provided in audio, more than my D2: the dream
- The attractive price for a player of this quality, when compared to the HD drives hallucinating price from 500 to 5000 euros for the nomadic (it goes with the cables said HD)
- The object, if somewhat large, is quite superb.

Some question the value of such a device at the time of versatile smartphones ben gun down the battery in 2 hours already, and then the quality is not there, or the radio reception (rotten on my Sony and Asus, to Unless you are sitting under the issuer) A smartphone is like a supermarket: there is everything, but to find something more sophisticated, you have to go to a specialty store (philo 2 balls, I know ;-))
