Style:
The receiver seems to me quite high. It's bigger than I thought, especially in comparison to the S835, but goes well with the other devices in the TV cabinet.
Commissioning:
From unpacking the package to (astonished) HD enjoyment it took me only a few minutes. The interactive menu during commissioning is self-explanatory. A software update has been performed, and starts the channel search.
Power consumption:
The instrument needs in my operation about 15 watts. Very beautiful are 3 modes in standby (Normal - 12 Watt, without normal clock - 10 Watt, Eco - 0.3 Watt)
Image Quality:
With the image quality I am very satisfied. With my HD-Ready TV, which certainly is high bit outdated, HD is really a pleasure and SD images also work better than the Telestar, which I have used before.
Operation / menu navigation / remote control:
The menu navigation is intuitive to use alone and in my opinion is very user-friendly. So far, I could make all the (important) Basic settings without using the manual. A browse through the instructions on page also made but a good impression. The Fernbienung supports all major functions, is a good size and the one or other special function.
SKY:
After I pushed the SKY card in an AC light module, and this was in turn used in the receiver, the module was immediately recognized. Right away all SKY channels were (which I have subscribed to) receive. At SKY HD I can not say anything because I do not have the channels by subscription. When switching a short message (1-2 seconds) appears that the respective SKY channels can not be received with the HD + card. Problem that has already been described that SKY freezes or remains dark, I did not. Presumably, these problems are then but the AC module or the software version of the module.
Conclusion:
I would buy the device at any time. It was important to me to use HD + and Sky. A recording function via USB does not matter for me. Comparison with a device like the Telestar HD + or Technisat HD8 +, the same design in the broader sense are, I can not comment too. However, the Telestar is not yet available at the moment and the Technisat almost doppellt so expensive. A performance increase that justifies the price differentials is, however, not to expect me. So, the device is easy for me a value for Pops.
